  1. We have that same exact machine. We do not program with Mastercam yet but im pushing for a lathe seat. We do however subcontract out complicated programming. We provided the post which is really basic and i still have to tweek the code after its done being programmed. Its a crapy post at best i admit and im the guy that wrote it. We have been searching for someone with a better one. Someone that is actually using it vs coming from a CAD /CAM rep company (have not had good experiences) . As soon as we do find a good post we plan on purchasing the lathe module right away. Posts are a very sore spot with me and CAD/CAM companies and up for some other discussion. I have traded posts over the years with other shops and seems to work out for both parties. I am surprised there is not a database of shared posts out there.
  2. Have you tried updating your volumill? because there are many changes.. Dynamic mill just doesnt "Cut it" for me because of some of the inconsistency in tool engagement. volumill keeps it constant.
  3. Same issue your all having.. im going in and doing a clean fresh install after i un install and clear out my reg..
  4. im getting crashes as well.. just a quick boot right out of the program.. sucks! everything was fine until the update.
  5. I went to the website and i dont see in the zip file the installer for x4 .. the box will not show up in my tool bar states.. I had no problem in x3 just now but x4 will not work i can Alt C to set the setup sheet but thats it.
  6. I really like it works great.. what i like also is it tells you the origin of the file
  7. Thank you john you just answered several questions clearer than i could and are currently meeting about those exact issues.
  8. absolutely.. Big fan of g10. big fan of tool presetting. not a big fan of vises we have a prob on one machine looking into getting probes for all machines. My personal experiences are with main and sub plates with about 10% of the work being vises. This shop has 99% of there work setup in vises. A bit of a challenge and baby steps are in order. but the company is more than willing to expand there knowledge. So for me and the company its an open door for opportunity. I just have to get all my ducks in a row and help do this right from the beginning. OMEP has been a great help but, we have a long way to go and are leaving a lot of decisions up to us. OMEP is an organization that helps companies with stream lining manufacturing processes here in oregon.
  9. This is GREAT feedback. I love it. thank you so much i hope to hear more. I completely agree with both of you its just much easier to be on the same page as others and not such a pioneer on this subject that has been proven out over several years. Any cost reduction is money in our pocket and savings to the customer.
  10. We are currently going through a revamp. Lean manufacturing is on the agenda. With that in mind I would like to implement standard work offsets. Its been a very long time for me. This shop does 99% of there work in vises and setup times are extreme and a killer. I am in the pursuit to cut setup times 75% I am currently trying to show/explain the benefit of standard offsets. I would like as much input from people that use standard offsets as possible. We are currently going preset tool offsets manually offline and attempt to upload the offsets with each program we have not done this yet but plan to by the end of next week. Thank you in advance.. and any advice is appreciated . Even if its just something you have tried.
  11. Thank you again to Mike, Scott and Clint
  12. I found the issue with help from 4 different people. At first it had two guys scratching there heads. smart guys to. they live and breathe C and Y axis. It turned out they had the same issues from time to time. They were so close to the answer but we all couldnt see it. Once in a while no matter what you do The Planes will default to one you dont want to use. I could not delete the plane and create a new one.. It was always defaulting. the default was 90 Degrees off. That was the issue. I had to completly start over and it worked flawlessly. i did the same exact pattern of attach but instead of importing the solid and creating a plane around it. i created the plane and moved the part to the plane. Not advisable because if the client ever changes the part im screwed and have to start over again. No association .. and regen tools .. not a big deal really just something that took a bunch of my time to figure out. it wont be the last time either
  13. when i change tool plane so the tool looks correct i get the axis error .. so truly when im looking at on the verify that is correct is not truly what its doing or post is looking for.. i have a mis match somewhere... and of course its pointing right back to me.. so operator error im sure..
  14. yup i checked that.. My end mill when i verify looks perpendicular to the slot i would like to cut. but i did get it to kick out code with out an error. not the code i was looking for .. it looks like its broken the C into segments but the C axis is correct. im sure it my settings im just not sure which settings. here is the actual code it should have % O101009(SLOTTED TUBE C AXIS) N1(.375-ENDMILL) M69 G98M45 G28H0 G54 G0T0707 G97S6000M13 G0X2.1Z.1 Z-1.128C20. G1X.9F5. Z-2.247C50. G0X2.24 Z.1 M01 N2 (C-ENDMILL) M8 G98M45 G54 G0 G97S6000M13 G0Z.1 X2.24 Z-1.128C20. G1X.65F5. Z-2.247C50. G00Z.1M9 G00X10.Z1.M5 M01 M46 M30 % I get c75.36 c74.291 c73.221 c71.124 c........ this is obviously another helix but i dont see in the settings where i can change this ..
  15. the code should kick out something like G0 G54 X2.2 Z-.450 c20 X.8 C50 Z-1.750 X2.2 THIS COMPLETES ONE HELIX i get an x z c move in segments like a 3d
