also without trying to get off topic but I see my hard drive is pretty full and I was going to run a disk clean up after uninstalling and deleting a few things I see it says I have 351 GB of Tempory Files. but the box is not checked to clean these.   Is it ok to do so??

I did the uninstall through the control panel for Version 6 but when I try to do it for version 4 I get a prompt that says... "installation source is not available. verify that the source exits and you can access it." ..... Im not sure what that means.  I also thought there were some files somewhere else that needed to be deleted also

I have Versions of mastercam  4,6,7,and 8 all on my pc.  I want to uninstall versions 4 and 6.  what is the best way to completely get rid of them.

tinyfxds,  Sounds like you clicked on the x+ setup sheet.   If you click on the x+ tool list it will only list the tools once.  and if the tool number is highlighted in the selected fields  it will be in numerical order

never mind.  I got it.  I was trying to do it using the set up sheet when I meant to be using the tool list.

im not sure this has been covered.  if it has I missed it. how Do I get it to list the tools in numerical order and not in order they are used.  

I tried.... When you are making your tool list, make sure TL # is highlighted in the Selected Fields dialog box and it did not work for me. unless I am it wrong.

ok I missed that. That was a typo on my part.   i guess thats what happens when I am distracted.  thanks for catching it.  

i think i figured out another problem though.  If i have  the adjustments to remaining stock checked to ingnore small cusps and it will not regenerate. if i use stock as computed it works fine.

My next part is working fine.   THanks

strange thing is I can take my original file and make the same changes and it still will not regenerate it.   Hopefully the next part is better.

normally I also always use top.  Im not sure why did it different this time.  I went back to my original file and still had issues so when   I tried to open your file back up but it doesnt know what software to use and mastercam is not on the list. How do I open it?

Thats because  the opti path is based off of a roughing tool.  go to the trim to stock page and change it to one other operation and select the stock model.

ok i found it. I turned entity attribute manager off and now it does not change colors when I move things.  I guess I will just leave it  off go back to changing colors everytime I open a new part file.

where do I change the setting for default colors when  I open a new solidworks file?   I recently changed that so every file I open  comes in the surfaces one color and wire frame a different color.  I think it started acting up around that time but I do not remember where that setting was.  I wanted to put it back to the default setting and see if it changed anything.

yes i have done that also.  it is correct.   IN the past it would still regenerate the tool path but obviously if its in the stock model is wrong it will not give a rest tool path.  now in x8 it will not try to regenerate.  almost like it doesn't recognize it.

If I change the colors of a set of enitites  and then move them either to a different level or just translate them they change back to the defalut colors. 

It worked for me in x7.   I should have clarified its X8

and when it does work its very slow to process.

Why is it that when I move surfaces or lines to a different level or even just translate them on the screen they change colors?

Optirest is not working for me if I base if off of a stock model. It gives me a dirty operation and will not regenerate it.   It will work if I base it off a roughing tool.  I tried it on 2 different parts with the same results.

ok  thanks   I missed the refresh button. I never had to do that in x7.  Its defautled to green for +.001 to -.001.  but that can be changed to anything you want just by typing in the boxes.
