  5. I like the idea of the full keyboard with number pad of the 17"
  6. Thanks for confirming that. That's what I was thinking. I found a couple m6500 are close to my budget that have everything I need/want.
  7. Only thing I'm not sure of os the screen resolution does it need to be 1920x1200 or is the 1440x900 ok?
  8. What do you mean by dual drives? I don't see it
  9. Or this one Dell m6400 8gb. 2.4ghz. Fx2700 http://m.ebay.com/itm/181302845701?nav=SEARCH&sbk=1
  10. Another question. Is there a noticeable difference between the core 2 duo and the i5/i7. Or will either do the job for me
  11. so would a i7 at a slower speed be better than a i5 at a faster speed? whats the minimum nvidia graphics card I should consider?
  12. Im looking to buy a used laptop to run mastercam at home. Mainly for home learing/training etc. I was looking at ebay and Im just wondering what are some minimum specs I should look for. I know about a dedicated nvidia grahics card. are there any cards to stay away from? Will most "gaming" machines run mastercam? Im trying to stay under $400. Is there anywhere else to buy good used laptops besides ebay? here is one example of what I was looking at. what do you think?? DELL PRECISION M6300 Core 2 Duo 2.20GHz 4GB 320GB Nvidia Quadro FX1600 http://www.ebay.com/itm/360834127740?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Thanks in advance.
  13. 2 screens at work but only 1 at home where I will do most of the studing. Makes sense though
  14. I was thinking about getting some training materials from emastercam and saw they offer print bundles and ebooks. The ebooks are pdf and are in color. The print bundles also come with video training cd and are printed in black/white. Any pro and cons I should think about?
  15. What does TCPC and DWO mean?
  16. Mastermind, What kind of tooling/vise setup are you going to be using with the umc-750? what kind of work do you guys do?
  17. Masterminder did you get the machine yet?? Do you guys use and type of g-code verification with your 5 -axis machines? It might be our 1st 5 axis so Im looking for any tips I can get about what else We need to go with the machine.
  18. We are getting quotes on one also. Let us know how you like it and pros and cons of it. Is it your first 5 axis?
  19. cool thanks. ill have to try that to. So far we are making lots of progress running a .001 total tolerance. with a cut tolerance of 50% cut tolerance and 25% line/arc and smoothing. At least double actual feed rates. Fingers crossed
  20. Just trying to make the most of what we have.
  21. Im using a 1.25 ball to do majority and step down in sizie to get corners/leftover areas Im not sure why I didnt use arcs in al lplanes. im goin to try that now. Im not sure I understand this. Where/How is this done? Machine is not wore out. It just does not have much memory so we DNC to it and it does not have high speed look ahead. its about a 13 year old fanuc controller.
  22. Thanks guys, Laszlok, most of what we do have very little flat areas. most of it seems to have 1/2 degree or more that we need to match so horizontal area doesnt do much go there. but i do use it where I can. I havent had alot of luck useing waterline on parts like this but I havent tried for awhile either.
  23. I get what you guys are saying but I'm not sure if I'm wording my question correctly. How far can I open up the filter settings before I have to worry about the code starts to deviate from the model. That should not be effected by the memory size of machine, setup , or tooling used. I don't have the luxury of having time to play with settings on 1 off parts. Thanks anyways
  24. I was looking for answers to how the filters affect accuracy of the posted code. But it seems no one wants to comment on that. The documentation mastercam gives refers to the shape of the part when talking about when and what to use for filters. That's why I posted an example of the part. Thanks for those who did comment something useful. Hopefully some else can chime in with some settings that are proven to work
