The first shop i worked used control and thats how i learned. I left there and started working by myself and was told by a friend to try wear and at first i didnt like it because the program didnt match the print.. but then i wised up and realized that i needed to trust mcam and once i did that i never used control again. So just trust it and forget about control its for the old timers

thats true everytime i try to save to a flash drive mcam crashes on one of my computers....lost loads of work once....wont do that again..

glad my shop went with haas and not fadal. If i ever see a fadal being rigged into my shop im going to run and never come back

anyone else having problems with the quick verify in backplot. the gray area gets cut off in certain areas like where the z moves are. wierd stuff ?????

I loved how fast mcam 9.1 posted a program and now x2 takes like 4 times as long. Does this drive anyone else crazy or is my computer just a sinker

The new controls have a larger screen with the timers always viewable..I like that and cant wait to get one

I used to use start holes all the time... Then i started ramping and it is so much better especially in aluminum..you can forget about all the start holes. I prefer the helix entry..it works great. -
thanks for the input guys. We are a small shop and a huge oportunity is in front of us to take on large quantities of casting work. We have shop floor space available to bring in any machines we need but like i said i have limited experience in castings. So from what you all tell me i should put much thought and inspection in before even making chips. how do the cnc's like cutting casting??

My boss and i are thinking about getting some casting work but we do not have much experience with it. some feedback of the pros and cons would be nice. Thanks

Sometimes i get this feeling that someone is watching me. I turn around and its my boss just standing there. He has this look like "what the heck am i paying this guy for." He says nothing though because once he said something and i walked out of the building and didnt come back till the next day. He seems to always be there in the only moment that im not cranking away on the cam.

Colin, Thanks that worked...i can run the chook whenever i want during the programing process right or is it just at startup....in other words can i turn it on and off at will....(too lazy to test it and i have to get back to my machine or the bossman will heat up)

ns....I copied the prmdef chook into the chook folder. Was that right because it didnt prompt me when starting uo x2 mr2. When should it prompt me? was i suppose to copy it into chooks folder or not?

Is there a way to always have the toolpaths come up with the default values. For example when doing a second contour toolpath it puts the values in for the fist contour. Sometimes i like it that way and other times i dont. It would be nice to be able to change it...

Is there a way to have a certain selection mask set as a toolbar icon. For example if i wanted to analyse ONLY arcs i would click the analyse icon and then the only arcs icon instead of going to the dropdown mask only box. I realize you can use the quick mask icons for ALL but is there a way to use an icon for ONLY???

I kinda figured that might be it but it does come up with an error message in the window where it is thinking. Dang my boss is so cheap why did he have to buy such a crapy pc... You get what the boss man pays for....

Is anyone haveing problems with the machine simulator from camaix freezing up mx2 mr1 and mr2. Is starts up with no geo or toolpaths but when toolpaths are selected it will shut mcam down. If anyone has resloved this i would appreciate any help
