  1. Iscar 1.5" Helido upfeed. 44W Mild Steel 1200SFM .03/tooth x 5 inserts with .03DOC 3056RPM - 458IPM I also have other high feed mills from 5/8" up to 4" but this 1.5 one is my favorite.
  2. lol, I got it. I was clicking on that but I assumed Ariel was first (A) and I never even bothered to scroll up. Thanks, these will work nicely.
  3. No they are installed on my computer, I just can't access them in Mastercam
  4. Thanks pip, they look good. Now when I go to create letters, how can I select those fonts? They are in stalled on my computer. Do I need to add them to Mastercam somehow? They are not in my choices but when I select "show more fonts", it brings me to the page to see them however I can't select them.
  5. Its not a bullmill, its not a square mill, its not a center drill, its not ANY of those tools. Its a custom tool. The radius is being read off of what is drawn. I am not going to change the radius or anything of the tool I have drawn, what point would that make? For me the toolpath is outputting different I'm done arguing this. I did 3 3d toolpaths on X6 (Not X3) and the toolpaths were different. I don't know what else to say. Maybe its my cfg thats messed up, I don't know. Perhaps I have something else set in my tool that I don't know of, I don't know. What I do know is I don't have an option to change a radius. I would have to assume its reading what is drawn. If its not, then my surfacing would always end up wrong because of a sharp corner, but I assure you it is not as I do surfacing all the time. I don't know.
  6. Yes I have used that chook before. That is a good idea. I am going to see how it looks. As for offsetting the contour, I can't as the width is different all over the text. That was the very first thing I thought of doing.
  7. Ya there isn't much text but how do you modify them? Sorry, never did that so don't even know what you mean. Do you mean like just start pulling the second line off?
  8. lol, I didn'rt mean literally. I meant what is the proper one to select? None, as any of them will work. What I was trying to get across if you you say select "undefined" , it defaults to a spot drill. You cannot enter a radius on that tool and even if you could, it would not read it. it would read what is on the custom drawing. So being there is no actual radius on the high feed mill at the bottom of the tool, what is it calculating? I can't see it "guessing" at what the rad would be, that would be absurd.
  9. Just did another test with 2D pocket. THAT was the same. As i had agreed with earlier, I would think 2D would be identical but 3D not. I will do a few more tests and see. EDIT - Did another test with a surface that requires both sides of the cutter to touch (left and right side) and also the bottom. Basically a half circle roughed out. Put them in Cimco Edit and did a file compare. i got an error that said "File compare failed. There are too many differences between the two files!" Heres a question. When creating a custom tool, what stock too do you start off with? I used a flat endmill so selecting a corner radius like you mentioned "that Mastercam calculates off" is not even an option for me. I can't actually type in what the radius is cause there is none. My tool on the right (the little preview pane) looks exactly like my iscar tool, as it should be. The other properties on that display page are irrelevant, otherwise it defeats the whole purpose of a "custom" tool. From what I have tested, I am going to stand by my decision that a custom tool when doing 3D is actually calculated differently that a bullnose. 2D on the other hand is the same.
  10. I did one with Custom Defined and one with Bullmill defined. All tool parameters are identical, everything. I posted out the program for each one. Clearly you can see the toolpath is different. I don't get why X3 wouldn't do the same. Have you done both to verify that? I am using X6 MU2. Here are the links to the 2 programs. http://www.filefacto.../n/BULLMILL_EIA http://www.filefacto...6r/n/CUSTOM_EIA Maybe its different cause I'm using High speed Area Clearance?
  11. I know I can get single lines in THAT font. I want it in a cursive style font one line, like the ScriptS type font but not boxed. I can't see Mastercam not having that option I mean cmon. The price this software costs, you would think it could do the simple things.
  12. I'm trying to create some letters in the ScriptS style but what I want is it to be in one line letters. What I mean is it is outputting in a box letter, which I don't want. Is there a way to make it NOT box?
  13. Mine does not go blank. I opened a new Mastercam instance, went to hole mapping, selected my "test" and hit ok. It did not dissapear. I can select between the "hole" and my "test" and it works fine. Not sure why yours is doing that.
  14. I'm not sure why your list is coming up empty. I can't do anything to get mine to be empty. I put in some random tools, hit select all, save as "test" and it comes back like this.
  15. xxxx man, thats beyond what I use the FBD for, lol. We do clearance holes mostly, sizes ranging from 1/2"-2.5". The main reason I like FBD is cause when a part has multiple diameters, I don't need to analyze each hole. i set my tolerances within .01 so if the hole is drawn between .495-.510, thyen it still uses a 1/2" drill. I have used it with spot drilling and blind holes but never for taps. I'm sorry I can't help you with that part.
  16. You are right, you can't put in a default until you select your holes. I get what you are asking now. What I would do is just highlight the .406 holes all at once, right click and change them to a tapped hole in the features list. I am not sure how else to get them to default. Sorry. have you tried contacting your dealer?
  17. Maybe its not, lol. I am a little weirded out. I'll have to take a look when I get back.
  18. I'm at home right now (sick) but off the top of my head, go into where you would define your stock. Go into files, then there is a selection for operation defaulls. Go into your FBM and set defaults from there.
  19. You should be able to go into your operation defaults and change it.
  20. I was just going to ask that same thing. Glad you got it working.
  21. I don't know about how it would be in 2D, I would tend to agree it wouldn't make a difference but I'm not sure. Surfacing will indeed be different.
  22. That won't be the same either. Its a different profile on the tool, which in turn will lead to a different "toolpath". It will change the toolpath to accomodate the different profile tool. If defining the custom tool, it will know that the material will be left there and it will change the toolpath to clean it up. So no it won't be identical.
  23. Ok let me rephrase. If you HAVE to draw yourself, then you need to get the solid options. Yes if the model comes in already done, then of course you can put the toolpaths on it.
