  1. Thats kind of a wierd one for me Carl. Plunging in Z while advancing in Y with cutter comp on so that it affects Y. If I was doing this, I'd program the numbers just like you have and then measure the cut and adjust the offset Y number to get the result I need. Sounds like very interesting work. All I've ever cut is metal. HTH.
  2. Ok. Got past that hurdle. Now I'm at the debugger main screen and see all the related windows. When I click 'play' nothing happens. The tutorial shows the debugger going thru the post line by line but mine just seems to hang.
  3. I'm following the post debugger guide and where there is supposed to be a check box for enable post debugger (in the MasterCAM X utility window) there isn't anything. Using X3 MU1. ???
  4. Right on Colin! REally appreciate those handy tips. Keep em coming!
  5. The post method guarentees 3 important things: 1)Consistancy...the information is always formatted the same and that helps the operator during his setups. 2) I don't run the risk of forgetting something because the post asks me every time I make a change and a thorough header help with tracability in case there's a boo boo. 3) And most important, it makes my boss happy to see the extra communication between programming and manufacturing which alot of times just wouldn't happen without stuff like this. prompts me for specific input and that saves me from the risk of forgetting to enter the info.
  6. I've forgotten how to do this... Has to do with creating variables?? I need my post to kick out prompts for part number, revision, description of any changes, drawing information, stock size, part zero locations, etc... Colin....you showed me how to do this once. I need a refresher.
  7. Anyone else feeling the same uptick in work?
  8. Ok. Mystery solved. I should go back to bed. Tried to open X3 files in X2. I'll go away now....
  9. Not good! I can't open any of the files that I was working on last week! WTH? I've NEVER seen this error like this. My network is online fine. I can open up older files. Virus? Anybody got a valium?
  10. oops. CL-707 I see. Not familoar with that one. Start with a post that is closest to what you require. I'd get a sample of the required code and just change the coolant on/of to the shutter open/closed. add a code for gas on/off. Change the spindle on and speed to laser on and power. add a dwell afer the shutter on to go thru the mat'l. feed rate stays the same. change whatever else you need like program rewind is probably different. Put up a sample of the code that the control requires and someone here will help you out. D
  11. When in backplot I get only line entities when I save tool geometry. How do I get lines and arcs?
  12. Is this possible in mastercam (see pic)? This is a sheetmetal forming problem. The profile is a tool tab that locates the blank on the hydro press die. Project doesn't work since, well, its not a projection :-). Can someone recommend another app that does this? Thanks! D
  13. Any speed/feed recommendations for this stuff? Will be using coated cobalt or solid carbide. Have good rigid setup. Thanks. D
  14. I grabbed the first thing google listed. PrimoPDF. Seems to do the trick. Thanks.
  15. I can save as .dwg or .dxf etc and can open with Adobe but all of the notes are gone. The leaders and extension lines are there but no numbers. Anyone done this?
