alt S will turn off shading so you can select what you want
if you have a ton of geo you can right click on the mask icon tool bar to just select arcs lines splines etc.
this it what it says in the book
"used when performing contouring with an additional axis and priority is machining accuracy"
my take on it is it helps the B axis "look ahead" for accel/decel
i have tried all of the M codes and really didnt see a big difference at least for the work we do
i generally rough with M251 & finish with M252 or M250 depending on the job
it works just fine for me in X5 MU1 i use it all the time
while holding the shift key down click the geometry you want to chain
i think you forgot to click the geometry
be sure you have "use tools peck coolant etc" checked under tool settings
in the machine tree open
properties>tool settings>upper right hand box there is a tick button for this
if you want it on all the time just change it in the defaults
HTH
welcome to the forum
ok i went in there and sure enough it was set to V9
hopefully that fixes it up
CJep thanks for the tip would have never looked there, i checked all the MD and they were good but not the defaults
i will keep ya posted
ok i found out some more info here
when you double click a tool to use and it is set to "before" when it gets moved up to the current op its flipping to "after"
anybody else seeing this or am i the only guy who uses X style coolant
ok was digging a bit deeper and found out the tool was set to "after" which should be no big deal
in my post i have "before", "with" and "after" all set after the spindle command
flipping it to "before" got it to work
this use to work in X4 MU3
the reason for this is we have so many tools built up i dont know what tool is set to what "before, with, after" and was running into coolant not turning on fast enough on the machines so i moved all the pcan, pcan1, pcan2 up in the post.
did something change here i dont know about?
well i re-started MC and now i get coolant on almost all ops but not all of them
i tried a different post with the same results
these are the ops that are giving me trouble that i have seen so far
"contour ramp"
"2D dynamic core mill"
running X style coolant and is set to "from tool"
well in my ops it says its on but when i post i get nothing
if i have multiple ops with the same tool the first op no coolant the next op in the middle of the code boom it turns coolant on

any ideas why this happening or how to fix it?
TIA
the code looks good so im going to run with it and see what happens
if the machine reads in 5 place why not do it
we have some parts here that are crazy tolerance so if i can split tenths i will for the cam curves i do i dont want any rounding plus SGI likes points lots of points
thanks again Keith i would have never looked there
