  1. Were the definitions for Defender updated? Is it active? Windows Defender is probably the biggest thorn in our behind. You can add things to exclusions just so an update can wipe that out, really inconsistent.
  2. This is aquick fix that should resolve this. Registry structure has not changed since XP, but I cannot guarantee this will work on anything else, but Win7 64-Bit since I could not test. So....PLEASE USE AT OWN RISK! Backup your registry just in case. And did I mention PLEASE USE AT OWN RISK! Open up Notepad and copy the contents below EXACTLY. Then save as .reg (you might need to drop down "save as type" selection to "All files". Once saved double click on it and you should be good to go. Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\mcx-6File\shell\Open\command] @="\"C:\\Program Files\\mcamx6\\Mastercam.exe\" \"%1\"" "command"=-
  3. Todd, if he has Win7 32-bit have him install it straight into Win7. I have it on my Vista 32 running fine. Seeing that Win7 is a refined Vista, it should work. I was more interested in testing the XP side of things for now. I will be doing more testing soon. I even got Solidworks 2009 32-bit to install in the XP mode on a Win7 64-bit machine. Then I installed MCfSW and it ran fine. It was a bit choppy, but I didnt expect much from Intel 4500MHD video. I would not try this on a slow machine. You can actually switch between both operating systems on the fly. I was updating the XP side of things while working in 7 without issues. Here is a link to MS website with all the downloads. I would download the tool first. It checks if your CPU is capable of hardware virtualization, or if its enabled. Most of our Dell laptops came with hardware virtualization disabled in the Bios. Older or lower end CPU's may not support hardware virtualization. MS XP mode site Intel VT CPU list.
  4. V9 will run in Win7 32-64bit, but you need to install it in the Virtual XP install. So far Im very impressed with the XP mode implementation in Win7. Very slick and easy to use. My Win7 64bit install picked up the Hasp with no problems while in XP mode. You will have to click on USB at the top of the screen while in XP mode to allow it. Hope this helps.
  5. Hi guys. Im having a couple people testing this right now and they were able to regen, but wont know for sure till later. I had them rename MCLogr.exe to MCLogr.exe.old and had them disable Multithreading under Toolpaths in the config. Give it a try.
  6. I have been running 7 since the early beta. X4 runs perfectly and so does my other software. Had to wait/hack some drivers to work, mainly Intel AHCI, but otherwise its solid. I have it setup in dual boot with Vista and there is no comparison. Boot and load times, memory usage and stability are way better than Vista. For comparison after boot up. My Vista install with all my software. 1.32GB RAM My Win7 install with identical software.678MB RAM
  7. I worked with D2, CPM10V and A2 for 15 years and broke a ton of taps. Until I started to use the OSG roll taps. After I discovered these babies, there was no going back, especially on blind holes. So, I second the posts above.
  8. Active reports works perfectly fine in Vista. Any screen capture software works the same way as the one found in Mcam. That means, if you are trying to capture an image, it will capture what is the primary focus of the OS. So, if you are browsing the web, thats exactly what you will get as the image. As long as Mcam is the primary focus and you have desktop composition disabled, it works perfectly fine in Vista. Other image capturing software I use, works the same way and needs to be patched.
  9. Actually, you are right. I have Aero disabled by default and didnt test it. I just checked both of them in one of the betas and it worked. I disabled Aero after that and forgot, but you dont have to disable visual themes. You just need to disable desktop composition. This time I tested it. Here is the right screenshot.
  10. In Vista you need to right click on the X4 shortcut, go to Properties, tab to Compatibility and disable visual themes. Restart Mcam and you should be good to go. The screen capture has issues while Aero is running. There is other software that is affected by this, not just Mastercam. [ 06-12-2009, 12:52 PM: Message edited by: Norbert Rajkowski ]
  11. I played with Active Reports for a while in the betas. Its definitely a powerful tool, but without a good understanding of XML, it wont be a walk in the park. I almost had a one page report the way I wanted it, but hosed it @ the end. Never went back to it because of work. I suggest downloading XML Notepad from Microsoft, its free and it helps.
