  1. I have retract on 10mm, feed plane = 7mm, toc = 5mm og dept = 0, all values absolute... I have tried to create a total new file, just with the contour and tried as well.. Same situation... When I go back in parameters and choose dept of cut = 2 it doesn't even mark the operation dirty...
  2. I run into a very strange thing with a simple facing job! I have a contour around my part 580x385mm, from which I choose to make a facing operation with a Ø100 facemill.. I have to remove 5mm on the face, so I choose 2mm i d.o.c.! Then it generates toolpath fine, except it takes it all in 1 step! I try to go back and I can see that D.O.C. is deactivated, so I turn it on again, regenerate, but still only 1 cut... I shut down mastercam, create new facepath, same again and again... I'm still stucked on X4, just for info... Anyone who have run into this problem? Thanks in advance!
  3. I might depend on the version of Solid Works you got, but in mine I can choose to important it as a new sketch and then choose between 2D or 3D.. But as I said, I only get the solids and geometries in, no surfaces...
  4. I tried DWG, but DWG doesn't import the surfaces in Solid Works, only solids and geometries, at least what it did for me... Maybe I didn't go deep enough with the options...
  5. Thanks, great.. I don't know why I didn't thought about that option..
  6. Run into a bit of a problem! I got a file, which consist of some splines and surfaces made on them and then a couple of solids, which has no function in the case.. Then I have to machine some of the surfaces, and then save the toolpaths as a geometry and then save it all in a 3D file so the customer can check it! I can create the geometries from toolpaths, but when I want to save I can't find a file format which supports both the geometries and surfaces! I tried all what I have of options in X4 and either it saves only geometri and solids, but not surfaces or it saves solids and sufaces, but not geometries! I have no clue to make solids out of the spline geometries or the surfaces, else it would have been the easiest! Have tried to import the toolpath in SW and save them as a SW part , but can't import the geometries saved as a SW part into a assembly so I could merge them that way.. They simple just aren't visible... Any clue would be appriciated!
  7. I don't know if this can be useful, but try to program it as you want it in Mazatrol, run the program and check the M and G codes which are used! They are usually shown in the position window on the right side of the "buffer move" and "remaining move", when you run the program! Else take a look on your M and G gode list or contact your local Mazak, they are usually very helpful with info in the cases I have had with correction of post processors etc... HTH....
  8. Thanks for the different inputs... No matter what the problem is, the different explanations has given me a better understanding of some areas of Mastercam... So far I can't really find a good reason for it, but the IT would try change my ram and videocard just in case, just to see if it makes any difference...
  9. Thanks for info! This case is a quite simple part I have made in SW2011 according to the drawing and then imported it as .x_t with surfaces, no solids...
  10. I have tried to play with the filter / step over / smoothing.. Nothing useful.. What defines a bad suface and how to find it? Tried that, told me that: "Database Did Not Need to be Changed"... Thanks for all the inputs.. I'll try to let the IT take a look on it, there might be something with the hardware as Rickster proposed...
  11. I have tried several times to let it stand, sometimes up to 2 hours and it was still frozen.. I'll try overnight.. Was just somehow hoping this was a X4 bug, so I would have another reason to ask the company for an update of the maintenance...
  12. Thanks for the reply! But I honestly don't really get it.. You say I should make my resolution on the screen very coarse or on the toolpath? When I make the "step over" on the part very big, it's not a problem, only when I make finish paths with small stepover (less than 1mm).. I don't have any problem with simulation, only the regeneration of the toolpath..
  13. I just ran into a problem recently that start to annoy my pretty much... After a while of work and regenerating 3D surface toolpaths, my computer starts freeze when it's regenerating, and always only in 3D surface machining, even it's pretty simple stuff! It always stops at exactly the same line in the regeneration, and if I shut down Mastercam and try again, it freeze at the same point again.. If I restart computer and try again it works for a certain amount of times, then freezes again.. My logic tells me it's lack of memory, but I have 4gig of ram.. I'm running X4 and ain't using any other huge consuming programs at the same time... Anybody have a hint in which direction to look, except more memory?
  14. Thanks for the input! I tried and it looks somehow fine when I simulate! I'll try to work a bit more with it to make it looks better...
  15. I got a job where I have to make some milling that I never tried before and after some different test I can't really figure out how to fix this one here! I have attached the file.. I want to make an inside radius (the blue surface) with the mill (at level 9), but no matter what I try of standard surface machining it won't really work out.. Is this only possible with 5 axis or is it just a matter of some parameters that have to be changed? It's going to be done on a Integrex with possibilities for 5 axis, but I don't have licens for 5 axis on my lathe licens! It's not urgent, but if any of you clever guys have a moment to take a look on it and give me a hint it would be very appreciated!! Thanks a lot!
  16. First of all I can imaging it would be interesting to know what control is on it.. Tplus / Nexus / Matrix? As I understand your question I don't have any answer for your case, since I always use the Mazatrols own transfer, but try evt to program it in Mazatrol, run it with single block and read the G and M codes which are loaded into the control each step! They are normally written under buffer when they are "prepared" for the next move! Have used that trick in other cases!! HTH
  17. I use to take them into Solid Works, save them as a .x_t file and use that, works fine!
  18. We just got an Integrex J-200 a few weeks ago... We got a custom made from our supplier (Cimco)... Had some major issues, until they realized it was a milling control and not a turning that is on the machine... The only minus with the machine is that it only has 11 kW main spindle, which is too weak in my opinion... Secondly it can only index in 5 degree on the B-axis, except you buy the 5 axis version...
  19. Mazatrol really has a lot of positive sides: It's easy to learn, easy to program and edit... We make 80-90% of all our jobs on Mazatrol programming, especially turning machines! The only bad side is that you can't make anything in 3D, and if you got the 3D option, don't use it if you have Mastercam or other CAM system! But in your case with a turning machine, it won't be relevant... Get yourself a offline programming software "Camware" or "Mazacam" to program your programs on forehand if you have much programming to do...
  20. I suppose you mean the ISO programs... Mazatrol is pretty easy, just use the restart button on the right side of the main menu! ISO it's easiest done in the EIA monitor, you go down to the point in the pgr. where you want to restart from and press one time on the button farest to the right and the button "Restart 2 Non modal"... But you can only start in the pgr. at the point where you give info regard zero point, spindle speed etc... Ex. here: (ZERO POINT) #100=55 (1. ZERO POINT) (TOOLS) #1=00 (#1 = Ø25 END MILL) #8=00 (#8 = Ø4.4 DRILL) #3=00 (#3 = Ø2.3 DRILL) (START PROGRAM) M1 G0G40G80G90 G28G91Z0 G90 N1 T#1 M6 (Ø25 R390-11T310M-PH 4220 = 1) G61.1 M8 S1600M3 G0G90G#100X41.1Y10. 21. Thanks for the input Rickster.. I skimmed quickly through it, but will take a deeper look when I have more time... At least I don't have any crash, just the failure and then a "dead" operation... As I wrote, I'm still stocked on X4 without any MU.... Wish I could convince the boss about an upgrade to X5, but we have alot of licences and need to update all, so it's pretty expensive... Maybe this can be another good reason to add in the bowl of good reasons... Thanks again for the inputs to everyone!!
  22. OK... I hope he chimes in and can remember what the reason was then....
  23. I don't know if this gives any clues, but when I create my own model from scrath I don't have any problems with HST, nor do I have problem when I choose the roughing.. Only finish... It's a bit huge Solid Works Assembly I'm having problems with... Maybe that can give some clues?
  24. c:\mcamx\config\mcamxm.config <Metric> <Startup> If that is what you mean?
