  1. This should help. Changing SolidWorks Coordinate System to Match your CAM Software In this example we will be using Mastercam as the CAM software In SolidWorks the default Front Plane is the default Top Plane in Mastercam, so before saving the file to Parasolid File (*.x_t), it is good practice to change the Coordinate System in SolidWorks to match Mastercam. Within SolidWorks, open the part you want to change the Coordinate System. Click Coordinate System icon, or Insert, Reference Geometry, Coordinate System… This Dialog box appears. Select vertex, sketched point, midpoint, or the default point of origin on the part. You will see the selection in the Origin box. Next select the X Axis, Y Axis, or Z Axis, and the select an edge, face, or vertex on the part, or a sketch segment to indicate the direction of the selected Axis. Do the same for another Axis. As you can see by the green selection boxes, I selected upper vertex point for Y Axis direction, and the Lower vertex point for the X Axis direction. Z Axis is now up and down by default. Select OK You will see the new Coordinate System displayed in Green. Rename the new Coordinate System if you would like buy clicking on the name in the feature design tree. You are now ready to save your part with the new Coordinate System. Go to File, Save As… For Mastercam select Parasolid File (*.x_t), Version 10 and for the Output coordinate system:, select the Coordinate System you just created. In File name:, type in the what ever you want to save the part as, then select Save Part loaded in to Mastercam, looks like this Instead of this
