Can someone please put up a sample program of a Renishaw Inspection Plus program for a OSP 300MA control. I followed the example in the manual and sometimes it would work and sometimes I would get strange errors like 'character length exceeded". A customer is wanting to probe parts after machining and then print out the results. Any help is much appreciated. DM

Hey Doug, Printing probe data. Like a CMM would. Nominal, Measured, Deviation, in/out of tol. Renishaw probe. RS232 port. The owners do not want to mess with a file on the control...they want a custom print out to follow each part. Machine is a MB560V. So bottom line is the probe hits about 50 points probably with a macro and the printer kicks out the results. Thanks!! DM

I watched a youtube video in machsim and the guy said to build machines only in metric config...but he didnt say why. He was pretty emphatic about it. Was this once an issue and has since been fixed? Does machsim have a problem with inch units? Thanks in advance for any tips! DM

G169 appears to be the equivalent to DFO for this machine. Manual says: G169 Tool length offset at cutting edge ON Doesnt make sense to me....but I turned it off and damn near crashed.

Is that the same as Dynamic Fixture Offsets?

My post kicks out a G169 (TCP). I am not using C/L Rotation. My work offset is set to a point on the work. What is WSEC?

I cant explain why my tool path is looking like it is. This is my first trunion style 5ax. Its a simple 5ax curve path on an arc segment surface. I'm starting to think that there is a parameter in the machine thats causing the toolpath to be out. X 'looks' good. Y is off negative by maybe .500" and the tool tip does not follow the curvature of the surface consistently ie its deep and shallow by as much as .050" . Centerline of A is per factory. C zero checks out. My machine def looks correct and I get same result with different posts that are supposed to be proven for this machine. Can anyone comment on critical 5-ax parameters on this control OSP-P300MA-H that I should look out for....bit settings etc? Thanks in advance. DM

I'm new at Morris. Most guys have been here minimum 5 years. The jump from NC programmer/tooling design to AE is a big one. And that OSP-P300MA is an amazing control.

I need to learn how Transform Roll works. Colin had the answer. The flat text has to be at the center of rotation before doing the roll. It makes sense now. Thanks again Colin!
