  1. thanks, I thought I was losing it, and I hate taken the same road over and over... I'll try a different approach.
  2. I'm probably not being clear, there is only one model, I have created approx 20 or so unique cplane/tplane(s) to output the B axis (Horz machine), I'm copying the toolpath(s) (drill and contour for example) because the parameters do not change (rapid height, depth, lead in/ lead out, tool, speed, feed) the only thing that does change is the chained geometry and the point/arc location, and the cplane/tplane. the angular difference is not evenly spaced and the pocket shape changes. thanks for the reply,
  3. Hi All, I'm working on a model that has alot of positional rotations (4th axis) to pocket and drill features around the part, I have been copying operation, then updating the chained geometry and tplane/cplane, when I do this the graphics view flips to the top view exactly when I go to re-chain the geometry, and sometimes after this happens if I try to rotate I get a parasolid error. please, please, please tell me I'm not alone on this one. thanks V9.1 sp? (how do I check the sp level)
  4. do you know what temper condition of the material is? t-0, t-2, t-6 ?
  5. #1 make sure you take the skin off first (rolled flat stock, both sides) #2 semi-finsh then finish (both sides) #3 very keen cutting edges, no hone (usually means no coatings)

    wcs

yes, that works, but I was trying to avoid the unused system plane, actually I only wrote 1/2 the story and since then have found the soucre of my problem. Initally I tried, right click from the wcs manager, create, select menu, rotate, then rotating as required, but the results were wrong, I finally discovered that the axis nome and the rotate menus don't jive (compared to gview, rotate), so basically I have since found the correct pseudo axis to rotate, allowing me to name it after creating it on the fly, *now* it works slick. I also emailed Q.C. to let them know about the inconsistent behavior. thank for the help.

    wcs

am I the only one feeling that its harder to name custom cplane(s) and tplane(s) using the WCS manager, or am I not using it correctly? typically I rotate to the gview I want (cplane, tplane updated), wcs manager, select my new *system view*, copy selected, enter my info, accept. the *system view* is the one I want, but I can't rename it to what I want. any suggestions ? thank,
  8. I had a similar problem with Solidworks, I had to un-install all versions then re-install the new one.
  9. This maybe worth noting, When having MC compensate for the endmill size AND you are doing an Internal contour AND you have a Fillet the same size as your tool in MC, your code will NOT have a arc in that corner.... so if you use a regring/smaller EMill your fillet will also be small. I still prefer using wear, and start at zero for a offset. Quick, check you jobs for internal corners !
  10. edit common parameters has been logged as a bug by MC QC thanks,

    silly question

thank you both, I knew it was there I just could not see it.
  12. where is the "high feed" accessed from, I can't find it in V9
  13. just my 2 little pennies worth..... exactly who did WE steal this land from ???? and justified it how ? and managed it by voting the past/present/future politicans, who have no accountibility to the people, only have to put on a horse and pony show b/4 elections (funded by who?), promise the world, you know the rest.... your living it!
  14. ooppps thats replies!
  15. Thanks for the relies, I'll try it
  16. Jack, You have very valid points.
  17. Hi All, is there a easy way to set the "rapid retract" check box for all toolpaths, or do I need to do it in the default ops config file for each toolpath ? thanks,

    way o/t

does anyone know of a place to get codes for macro A (fanuc), we have a couple of older controls with macro a but no doc's. I think its something like G65 P(variable) Q(varialbe) R(function) thanks,
  19. Guess I asked for that one.... I saw the check box, but it output nothing in the post I am using, I must have to initialize a string or something ? thanks
  20. is it possible to output the mc9 file descriptor in the code file? thanks,
  21. is it possible to output the mc9 file descriptor in the code file? thanks,

thanks for the reply, I will go over the WCS material, at first glance I thought it would used to re-orient program zero and coordinate system instead of moving geometry, and for setting local coordinate systems(pallet indexing, multiple fixtures, etc)

ok, so now I tried to use WCS and still it does not update. I have no doubt it is the way I'm using WCS. But back to my original question (expanded version), if you translate geometry with toolpath association(s) will the tplane/cplane assignments update ? thanks, flamesuit on ....waiting

no, I have avoided using WCS, I have always used cplan/tplane. maybe it is time for me to give it (WCS) a try. thanks for the reply.
