  1. I'm sorry for not being clear, What I meant was that I always try to return the control to it prior state (in this case absolute [G90] mode), leaving it in a Incremental mode might cause unexpected results. thanks, Jg
  2. I have also used 3 place decimals (along with no leading zeros), to avoind the problems of arc errors you can set a parameter to specify the maximun error allowed between the programmed arc endpoints and the I,J,K values used. Jg
  3. quote: G00 G49 Z2.0 M09 G91 Y0 M05 M00 M99 % I'd recommend using a G90 M00, never really know whats next. Jg
  4. In turning there are two G7X cycles available, type 1 (no axis reversals allowed)and type 2 ( single axis reversals allowed), I think there are parameter selectable. Jg
  5. quote: The other is not having the contour path follow a constantly increasing or decreasing direction. Type 1 does not allow a reversal, type 2 allows one axis to reverse. post some output or even better upload the file to the ftp. Jg
  6. Travis, I have a surface (sheet body) out to the border that may work for you. It dosen't seem to have wrinkles, I can't upload to the FTP site, so where can I send it ? Jg
  7. Chip, I was refering to shapes such as something circular (spun) that had a cross-section form to them. Jg
  8. SolidWorks will not unfold a compound bend (as far as I know) except for a 2 section loft. I've read (here somewhere) that a combo of chooks will get you real close. Jg
  9. D, do you have a breakage problem or tool wear? if wear, wear? (sorry could not resist)for example on the top, front, sides, radii?
  10. I'm going to try that, my geo your file/cplane..... thanks for the help. jg
  11. chip, I had written the previously reply before looking at your file, the area you tp'd is not the windows i am cutting (I probably should have turned the actual part on b4 sending it) jg
  12. thanks Chip, level 100 contains the geometry I used to machine it (the first 4 toolpaths are shut off because there is no window at A0 ), then they are tranformed/rotated (sub) to their appropriate locations. because the rotary is tilted, and the way I programmed it, backplot dosen't show what is happening at the machine. as I said everything works great, i was just looking 4 options to get backploting closer to what is at the machine. thanks again for the look see, and uploading the file for me. JG
  13. Hi All, I have a job that was tooled and run on a horz. machine, with a adjustable right angle head, due to machine loading I had to adapt it to run on a vmc w/o the right angle head. I ended up putting the rotary on a sine plate and all is well, here's my question, is there a better way to program this using MY x,y,z zero and getting better visual results in backplot ? I can't seem to upload the file to jay's site, but I could email it to someone if they like. (660k) thanks, JG
  14. Don S, I did a quick path with different plunge choices and it seemed to work fine. (no error on finish pass) jg

    Rigidax

brother joe here, i have used a product called cerro-bend, doesn't shrink much at all, cools fast, melts in water.....err.uh.. very hot water, cuts great (wish they made aerospace parts outa that). J.G.
  16. I maybe off here, but make sure the tool nose radii are EXACTLY the same value, MC won't allow you to use different radii between rough and finish when using contour roughing cycles (G71,G72 for rough and G70 for finish) J.G.
  17. AeroTech, Try making a local coord system while in SolidWorks, then use it when exporting to M/C, also you might consider changing your default plane names in SolidWorks (Front to Top) J.G.
  18. Randle, Make sure your plane definition takes the short route in M/C (I use cplane, rotate), then the post should follow with the required output. J.G. BTW if the output dosen't match, what machine and post?
  19. yep, that be true. guess I'll have to look at adding more memory.
  20. Hi all, we have a 1986 hc 500 horz with a 11m control with C.A.P.s installed, right now we can only fit a 30k program into memory. my question is, is it possible to remove the CAPs and gain program storage memory ? Thanks, J.G.

  22. CQualls, I Imported the geo from M/C, I didn't have the original geo to work from. If I built it from "native" geo they would have been "consumed" into the various features. J.G.
  23. Cqualls, i sent you a file, not sure if its what you are looking for. J.G.

    G54

Emat1, the G54 (workshift) maybe the default in the control at startup and reset, so if its not in the code it may not cause a problem (assuming thats the one you want to use) j.g.
