  1. When I post and look at the program in the editor it looks fine. When I post it alarms at the machine I can't see the program because it alarms out and I am dncing the program.
  2. I notice that tool renumbering does not consider tools of the same size if they are in different Toolpath Groups. For example, if: Toolpath Group 1 uses T2=.25, T3=.50, T4=.75 Toolpath Group 2 uses T2=.25, T3=.50, T4=.75 If I renumber, I get the following: Toolpath Group 1: T1=.25, T2=.50, T3=.75 Toolpath Group 2: T4=.25, T5=.50, T6=.75 It would be nice if you select multiple groups and use tool renumbering, tools of the same size should have the same tool number. FYI: A quick work around is to temporarily move the ops together, renmumber, and then move the ops back to their respective groups.
  3. I've had experience with Robotmaster from Canada. It is about $10K and many times that if you really need to program 5-7 axis. This company is extremely competent, professional, and responsive. This is a "killer app" for robots; and worth every cent. You'd spend far more than what it costs trying to do it yourself, and you'd never approach their level of functionality. It's a Godsend for robot programming.
  4. Who else is flying in X? I've noticed recently that I'm much faster in X now than I was in 9. Also, it's just a lot more fun.
  5. not sure why it happened, but go into your Settings, Configuration, Files, Mill NC Programs (NC) and make sure the Selected item: area is pointing to a directory that you have read/write permissions to.
  6. Exodus, You need to drop by our office sometime. I'm very familiar with City College, but not your program. www.sandiegocadcam.com
  7. I've been using -X exclusively for the last month. I have a small mill, so I've been making a LOT of parts (2D and 3D) with X. I hate going back to v9 now. Once you get used to it, X is a very nice place to work. There are still a few things I want to see changed in X, but there is no way I'd go back to v9 if I could.
  8. Tip: If you only program one machine, and do not want to select a Machine Definition before programming every time, just add the .mmd filename to the Mastercam X shortcut properties as follows: C:mcamxmastercam.exe sdcc_haas_toolroom.mmd In this case, Mastercam boots up in Mill mode with sdcc_haas_toolroom.pst active.
  9. DavidB, It may be a little maddening for a while, especially if you were a heavy keyboard user. But for everything that was taken away, much more has been added. You can't really use X the way you used 9. Think of it as a whole new system (though many things still remaing the same). Once you get the hang of it, and that might take weeks, I think you'll appreciate this new way of doing things. It is faster and a more pleasant work environment.
  10. I finally got around to installing these, and what a difference! The motion is really smooth and precise.... NICE JOB. If you can afford it, a Spaceball is an awesome productivity add-on to Mastercam! I REALLY like mine a lot!
  11. I like putting the Snap To menu there... great idea. I added End Selection as the last item.
  12. I'm not having these problems, so it may be hardware specific, which is usually related to the graphics card. Try turning Settings, Configuration, Screen, "disable hardware acceleration" on and see if your problems go away.
  13. To create a circle tangent to two entities: Create Circle Edge Point, Enter a diameter or radius. Turn on Tangent option. Move cursor so one entity hightlights and clicks (but Autocursor is not "snapped" to any geometric point). Move cursor to other entity and do the same. You will see the full circle tangent to the two picked entities. Click on Accept.
  14. To break an entity into two entities... another way: Edit, Trim/Break. Turn on both "Trim to Point" AND "Break". Click on entity, move mouse to Midpoint of entity, left click.
  15. ROY_23 Notice the ! just left of the select options. This sets what type of geometry features the mouse will "see". Make sure Endpoints is checked, and your Autocursor should work nicely. Also, use the mouse wheel to zoom up on the area. Notice that the zoom focus now depends on cursor location. This makes it a lot easier to zoom up on an area so the autocursor jumps to the endpoint you want when working in a cluttered area.
  16. Steve, It should run, but kick your screen resolution up to 1024x768 at least.
  17. Steve, Yes, you get a new computer. In my opinion, you need Win XP Pro, at least 1280x1024 graphics with 256MB video RAM, and at least 512MB of memory (1GB much better). You need a mouse with a wheel button in the center. While you are at it, I HIGHLY recommend a 17-19" LCD monitor. It is much easier on the eyes and gives you more desk space. Luckily, this type of system if probably a lot cheaper than you think.
  18. Patrik, Not that I know of. You need to draw the point first.
  19. Jeff, Agreed. I put Accept as the last item on my RMB menu.... best of both worlds... When I have to use Enter, I hit the Enter key on my numeric keyboard with my left thumb, or just click the green checkmark on the open dialog when that's required.
  20. Erase Chain: Just hold down the Shift key and click any entity in the contour. Then hit the Delete key on your keyboard or select the Delete icon.
  21. Tip: To fillet, just move the cursor near the corner to fillet. You will see a preview of the resulting fillet. Just click once to accept. If the preview isn't what you want, then click on one of the entities. If you still don't see the result you want, then click on the second entity, and it works like V9.
  22. Tips To change the attribute of geometry, just right click on Attributes or a specific attribute you want to change (color, line style, etc). You will be prompted to select the entities that you want to change. Pick them and then End Selection (I put End Selection on my Right Mouse Button menu). Mastercam will bring up the appropriate dialog, select what new attribute you want, and then OK.
  23. You steal software, you commit grand theft. You steal software, you get no technical support. You get no technical support, whatever you "saved" by stealing software is lost many times over, year after year after year. If everyone steals software, no software is produced, and you (and the US economy as a whole) looses it's competitive advantage. No serious company would ever even THINK about stealing software. No company that steals software will ever be serious or successful. It's immoral, it's illegal, it's not rational, and it's not in the best of our industry or economy as a whole. It's like your mother told you (hopefully): Don't steal. It's stupid. Think small, stay small. Do the right things, flourish.
  24. I run dual monitors, so a dockable toolpaths/solids manager would be awesome.
