  1. thanks james that works to some degree but i want the work offset after a tool change but just not in every operation for that tool.
  2. I am wondering what to change in the post processor so that i dont have the same work offset for every operation(if there are 5 operations for one endmill and they are all using g54) how can i change it so that the work offset only gets called up once, until it switches to a new work offset? same goes for the comment line thanks in advance Pete

  4. I would like to see(if this hasn't been said already) a "Gage from" box in the tool descriptions, as in gaged from a certain diameter so i can have correct verification on chamfers, drilled holes etc. also could i get a library of port tools? without using custom tools... pete
  5. Whats next? if i drive over the speed limit, they blow up my car? this is recockulus
  6. Thanks Christian, That seems to work just fine now... Pete
  7. i have found that the Hanita varimill(variable flute) endmills work great, we are currently running 2800 ipm 28 ipm w/ a .375 dia 4 flute varimill radial doc=.1-.15 axial doc= .080-.275 if you are ramping the 3 flutes work better. these cutters have a .008 rad on them also. also, runout is key(keep it to a minimum) we use albrect mechanical collets opposed to hydraulic holders.they keep the runout to about .0002
  8. well i have about 40 years to go i have a while to figure out plans....
  9. im pretty sure this is where the problem is but i dont know what to change pindex #Index output if index & rot_on_x & (indx_out <> prv_indx_out),##added prv_indx_out logic [ "(INDEX TO", *indx_out, ")", e pbld, n, "G53", "Z0", e pbld, n, pwcs, `sindx_mc, *indx_out, e##added and pwcs pbld, n, e## added whole line !cabs, !cinc prv_indx_out = indx_out## ]
  10. Can anyone tell me what i need to change in the post to output a B index only one time? right now what it is doing is outputing(is that even a word?) the angle and index before every move, example: ( 1.25 DIA 3 FL INSERTABLE EM ) N792 G0 G56 X-17.9829 Y.2068 N794 Z-8.5751 (INDEX TO B30. ) N796 G53 Z0 N798 M15 B30. N800 G1 Z-8.9357 (INDEX TO B30. ) N802 G53 Z0 N804 M15 B30. N806 G41 D2 X-18.2954 Y-.3345 (INDEX TO B30. ) N808 G53 Z0 N810 M15 B30. N812 G3 X-18.3221 Y-.4345 I.1732 J-.1 (INDEX TO B30. ) N814 G53 Z0 N816 M15 B30. N818 G1 Y-.437 (INDEX TO B30. ) basicly this is what i need to get rid of: (INDEX TO B30. ) N808 G53 Z0 N810 M15 B30. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance Pete [ 06-17-2003, 12:54 PM: Message edited by: specv ]

  14. Does anyone know where i can get an English to Metric converter for exsisting NC files? An Editor maybe... thanks in advance
  15. Well im going to chime in here, 'Rekd, the reason you use an is because "FYI" is not a word its an abbreviation. when you say the letter F it sounds like you are saying EPH, which starts with an E...lol no im not bored either:) and also too lazy to read all the posts before i posted...oops [ 05-08-2003, 11:29 AM: Message edited by: specv ]
  16. Depending on the dia. of the groove we usually use the boring head option.
  17. I was wrestling with my first ever lathe program, not an easy one either, metric prints and unilateral dimensioning, AND the part was in thirds, clamped together .....luckily i was working with a lathe set-up guy that has been setting them up since the first nc lathe was built [ 04-11-2003, 02:11 PM: Message edited by: specv ]
  18. Makino is a great machine, we have 3 A66 HMC's, 1 A77 HMC, 1 A51 HMC, 1 FNC 106 VMC, and 2 twin spindle VMC's(there were only 6 made) from 6M to 18M (pro3) control's. they are pretty much the best machines out there. right now we are milling a part that is +/- .0002 thick, .0002 flatness, and .0002 parallelism, all day long on a Horizontal w/out many problems.
  19. A is not only used for indexing.... this is what we use our A value for (4.0 DIA. 4FL FACE MILL) N7G65P9222A3.98 This checks the tool length to a standard set by the tool list, kind of a double check to make sure the right tool is in the spindle, and that it was gaged correctly.
