  1. When you change the density, the mass automatically updates, the inertia does not change. Ah ha, we dealing with the Second Moment of the Area sometimes called the Moment of Inertia or Area Moment of Inertia. Its units would be inch^4. So I made a 1 2 3 Block and had MasterCam give me the Moment of Inertia for the three edges for the three edges. The answers were 26 20 & 10 These were not correct for the Area Moment of Inertia, however they are the Mass Moment of Inertia with a density of 1 again you can change the number in the density box the mass automatically updates, however the inertia does not change. Then I made a 1 2 3 Block in SolidWorks and had it give me the mass properties. It's answers are more complete but with a 1 lb/sq in density three of them are 26, 20 & 10 Well and good, just multiply by the real density to correct MasterCam. I should have quit there I open that 1 2 3 block in MasterCam asked for the Moment of Inertia for the three edges. And got 138414.5, 179938.9 & 69207.3 Which are correct for a 1" x 2" x 6" block weighing 6 lbs if you use Pascal for the units of the Moment of Inertia. I'm still banging my head against the reinforced edge my computer
  2. Mastercam.com list X5MU1 as the latest release. My reseller only post X5MU1 on their ftp site. But it seem X6 was here and gone and here once more. My maintenance was paid last July, my email and phone both work. Why am I a second-class citizen?
  3. Also if the "toggle posting on selected operations" button (looks like a ghost to me) has been pressed, it won't post even if its got a green check.
  4. I had to use G54 and match the Mastercam set up We tried changing rotaxis1$ = vecy #Zero rotdir1$ = -vecx #Direction didn't work
  5. Down load "X-mouse Button Control" from Majorgeeks.com (Free) I mapped my wheel to "enter" and use the 3d mouse button for fit
  6. 1 MasterCam will open a a SolidWorks Drawing. 2 SolidWorks gives away eDrawing to open their files 3 email sent
  7. I still try to rotate the photos in the on-line newspaper .
  8. Is there someway to change the colors used on the forum? My background is gray most text is white, which I find somewhat annoying. Text in code windows are gray, purple and white, which may be artistic, but is almost unreadable!
  9. Will the mirrored features come in if you turn off the "import feature tree" option Yes
  10. If I can't trust the file type to import correctly, it should not be an option .
  11. When I imported a SolidWorks ".prt" file all of the mirrored or pattern features are missing. see pictures. Am I doing something wrong? As designed in SolidWorks 2011 As imported by MasterCam X5
  12. You can input a canned text at a given point on the tool path in 3 axis, but you add the points one at a time. I need 4 points per pass = a gaggle of work and I'm in 5 axis. I tried using "output surface change comments in nc file" that works if there is a point being generated anyway. But using the "max Distance" of surface quality at .020" to get close to my trigger point. generates a big file. I would like to place surfaces perpendicular to the drive surfaces and have a canned text inserted every time the tool tip hits them. A different comment per surface would be great... Collision Control knows when that happens but doesn't tell the nc.
  13. I use the NextEngine. It does a good job. Don't expect a Poof Button that gives water tight CAD friendly models. 2K for the scanner 2K for the RapidWorks add-on 2K to update your computer
