  1. I have used this spot drill to do the exact same operation on the same material before and had no problems. How many times can I use a spot drill like this before it gets dull? I have used this one alot, so I am gonna try a new one.
  2. Anyone ever experience this? I am using a .375 90Deg. Carbide Spot drill. I am using it to create a spot drill and chamfer in SAE 1141 material. My depth is .15" deep with speed of 1800RPM and feed of 5.0IPM. Sometimes, about 10 out of 25 drill points, the spot drill makes a weird chatter like sound if I run coolant on it. If I turn the coolant off, the sound goes away. Anyone ever have this or know why it does it????
  3. It did it to me a couple times, when trying to edit common parameters of aobut 50 or so toolpaths.
  4. I am using differnt tool number for tools, so I go into the tool parameters and change them. Now when I select a bunch of operations and edit commonparameters, i get Mastercam X is not responding. Any ideas.
  5. i used a .125 carbide endmill and just fed it by hand slowly running bout 5000 RPMS and kept the air on it and it worked just find. Broke the tip of one end mill, but got it to work. THanks for the help guys.
  6. what kinds of speeds should i run. i was thinkin about using a 1/8" carbide end mill. What kind of speeds and feeds should I run??
  7. I hope someone knows a trick of the trade or something to help me with this one. I have a broken tap in a piece of SAE 1141. The tap that is broken in it is 10-32 H3 PS/P Plug EL (Electro-lube) tap. The part is to big to be put into a small hole EDM to burn the tap out. Does anyone know any tricks or something that can help me remove the tap from the hole. The tap isn't bottomed out because there is .2 inches of clearence from the hole depth to the tap depth. Any ideas??
  8. I have a HAAS VF-4 and I dont have a warm up program for it. Where can I get one? I just usually turned the spindle on at a low RPM and let it run for a couple minutes, but I would like to get an actual warm up program to warm up the spindle and lead screws for the traverse. Any ideas of where I can get one?? Thanks.
  9. I am running Blast-O-Cut coolant and the spindle oil is working fine. After clreaning the tool holders and greasing them and the spindle, the tool holder came out without a sound.
  10. The tool before it is a 1/8 in endmill running at 7500 RPM. I talked to tech support for a HAAS dealer and the guy told me to take all the tool holders out and clean them with either laquer thinner or mineral spirits and then put a thin layer of lithium grease on the tool holder taper and in the spindle. So, I did that and we will see what happens.
  11. I have a HAAS VF-4 and one of my operations is a 60 Deg. Chamfer Mill that contours a line to leave a 30 Deg. Chamfer in the material for an insert to sit against. The problem I am having is that after running this tool, the tool holder seems to get stuck in the spindle and I have had to use a pry bar to get it out twice already. I have changed tool holders and still get the same thing. The first was a 3/8" Set Screw Tool holder (which I have 2 of and only the one for this tool gets stuck) and the second is a ER-25 collet style holder which I have used before with no problem, but now it is getting stuck. Any ideas of why this is happening??
  12. I dont understand why the error message tells us to contact our dealer if we are just in the middle of a current function.
  13. Because we were in verify when we got the error message a couple times, so the green balloon is not always present.
  14. My Mastercam Class keeps getting this error message when they try to do certain things like they sometimes attempt to verify or save. Any one else ever get this and does anyone know why we are getting it??? Any ideas on how to fix the error??? Exit current function before running new command. Function not responding to MC_EXITFUNC request. Please report error to dealer.
  15. I went into the configuration for my editor for the communcations to check them, and they were right. when i was done, i got done and it asked to update the machine and it did and it worked.
  16. I got it working now, but i will try that and see what i get. thanks.
  17. About a month ago I was running some programs that were too large to be held in the memory of my HAAS VF-4, so I was using a DNC Drip Connection. After I got all the parity between my computer and machine the same, I had no problem with the connection working. Once I got done with the large programs and went back to some smaller ones that did fit in the memory, I just transferred them over and ran them. Now, that I have to go back to a DNC Drip Feed Connection, every time I try to transfer the program to run, I get 2 errors: 416 RS-232 Parity Error 417 RS-232 Framing Error I check the parity and they are exactly the same. What I can figure out is just 10 minutes ago when I tried the transfer on the drip connection to view the program in Graphics, it worked. Now that I want to run it, I am getting these errors. If I were to break the program apart into pieces and run chunks at a time and just transfer the chunk of the program to the memory, it would work fine. That is what I did last week when it wasn't working, but this program would take about 30 chunks to do, and I really dont feel like doing it. Any ideas of why this is being stupid for me??
  18. Ahhh, I got it now. That red arrow can really mess stuff up when it wants too. Thanks.
  19. I dont know why this is happening, but it is. I was using a center drill for all of my center drilling, but I just switched to a spot drill. I went into my toolpaths manager and changed my tools around and recalculated my depth. Now when I post my program. It is putting my drilling cylce before my spot drilling cycle. And not posting all of my spot drilling cycle, and I cant figure out why. Any ideas???
  20. Is there a way that when editing common paratmeters, you can also edit the lead in/out, multi-passes, depth cuts, xy stock to leave, compensation type?? You would think that by selecting the toolpaths, right clicking, and edit common paratmetres you would be able to do this. Is there a way to, or do I have to do every toolpath seperate even those these functions are common to them???? __________________________________ Mastercam X MR1
