  1. I can't drill from the other side. the part is a 4.875 cylinder. drilling from the other side is not an option.
  2. I broke off a 10-32 tap in SAE1141. So I decided to mill it out with a .125 carbide endmill like i have done numerous times before. This time, the end mill broke off in the hole and it is all messed up. I need to get the hole cleaned out so I can redrill and tap 1/4-28 and then redrill and tap the size needed of 10-32. Does any one have any ideas of how to get the hole all cleaned out. The stuff at the bottom is pretty hard stuff. any ideas at all would help.
  3. all the geometry is still there, nothing is deleted. the drawing looks the same as it always did, just seems that the toolpaths are messed up.
  4. yeah, if i expand the toolpath operation. it says that i have chains. but if i open the chain dialog box, there is nothing there.
  5. I came into work this morning and opened a file that I was working on Friday and I know I saved it before I left. When I opened it, all the operations were x'd out, dirty. So I chose them all and did a regen toolpath, and I get the warning. 0 Toolpath Entites Remaining, but it is very easily seen that none of them are deleted. Anyone else ever have this?
  6. I would like to see a couple of changes made to the edit commom parameters page. It would be nice if you could edit the depth cuts, multi-passes, lead in/out, xy stock to leave, and those things when you select a bunch of toolpaths and right click, edit common parameters. that would save lots of time rather than having to do every toolpath one by one.
  7. Alot of times mastercam seems like it is not responding, but i just let it go. Just did it to me on a file that is about 40MB. Took forever to load, but didn't crash. Cabin Pressure is good, all flyers happy.
  8. I have been using a DNC Drip Connection for sometime now, but recently after a computer I just tried doing it again and I am getting a Buffer Overflow alarm message. All of the communication parameters between computer and machine are the same? Any body have any ideas??
  9. Dan, Check your email please. I talked to a person who said they were using a beta MR2 or something and said the way I described didn't crash. I also sent a file to [email protected] and they crashed it too.
  10. No crashes lately for me. I know how to make it crash though. Draw a line from the origin on an angle, doesnt matter. Then transform that line about 5 times around a cylinder and then try to verify the toolpath. It may verify, but please be patient. It'll crash.
  11. Hey guys, I was wondering if anybody knows where I can find or get a guide for endmill coatings and what their uses are? I have been running all uncoated Carbide tooling and it is working good. I would just like to know what my options for coatings are and what their specific uses are. Thanks in advance.
  12. quote: Edit: Dang! I thought I could finally contribute something! Sorry about messin that up for ya. Appreciate the help though.
  13. Is there a way to relselect geometry for a contour. If I delete geomtery, i see the little window that says are you sure cause this is used in a toolpath. If i recreate geometry that is going to be done by the same tool path, is there a way to select that chain for the toolpath. If i expand my operation, i see where it says 0 geometry (chains), can I go in from there and select the geometry or do i have to create new toolpath????
  14. Cool, i am gonna look into it. thanks for the info
  15. I would try to get something with 4th axis going if avaliable
  16. I will be using from 1/2 up to 3/4 presently. I am cutting SAE 1141 material on a HAAS VF-4 on a Rotary Axis.
  17. I was wondering is any of you guys are using Ball Insert Endmills. Currently I am using all solid Carbide 4 Flute Ball Endmills, and I was thinking about changing to insertable tooling. Just wondering what your guys thoughts about the insert ball endmills were?
  18. go into the WCS manager. Bottom left corner of the screen , there is a WCS thing. Click it, then view manager.
  19. mastercam keeps not responding everytime I try to change my control and post.
  20. i am trying to switch to MPMaster. I go into Machine Definition Manager to change it, but when I try to accept the changes, I loose control and i end up using the good old Ctrl+Alt+Delete trick. My screen goes completely white and stays that way. I dont know if it is becuase of the file I am working with is huge or not, about 39,400 KB.
