  1. Greetings, I would like to know if I may join the Educational Forum. Being fairly new to Mastertcam I am a bit intimidated but I won't learn if I don't try. Can anyone advise me on how to join? Thank you!
  2. Mathew, the 3/4 roughing tool was feeding at, 800ipm/12000rpm and the 1/4 finish tool was 500ipm/12000rpm. Yah know I was wondering about the feeds myself. The machine may not handle the corners that well. I will look into the high-feed machining as I am still getting familiar with this machine. Thank you, rchipper
  3. Ok here it is. One thing I did to check the posted code was to back plot the code, and the cusp should not even be there. The location in the program puts the tool right where it is supposed to be. Actually the 3/4 tool was programmed to leaves .005 for the 1/4 tool to clean up on the wall at the top. The center of the 3/4 tool radius in the picture is about .875 farther from the wall than it is supposed to be. Something is amiss?? I created additional new geometry and extended the boundary beyond the cusp to clean it up using the Constant scallop. I really need to figure out how to prevent this in the future because I will be making more of these, and variations of them. Thank you for your reply.
  4. Did I attach the photo correctly? I'm sorry, I said I was new.
  5. Greetings, I programmed a mold for the first time using X6 and would like to know if anyone knows what would cause the condition in the attached photo. I ran the program in verify and this mismatch does not show up. I also back plotted the program using Cimco and again, did not see any moves that look like this. Upon sending the file to my reseller they confirmed that the programming looked correct. This was machined on a Komo router. I roughed the cavity with a 3/4 ball end mill with, Surface Rough Pocket, then finished it with the same tool using, Surface Constant Scallop then used a 1/4 ball end mill and the Surface Finish leftover cycle to clean up the corners and step downs. So if there are any mold pros or well, anyone that may be willing to help a new guy I would be grateful. I can supply the Mastercam file if needed. The red area is from the 1/4 tool and the scallop at the bottom is left over from the 3/4 tool. The upper right is the farthest corner and it is supposed to be a blended curve without that scallop between. Like I said, I am not seeing this in verify even when looking at a sectioned view. Thanks again to everyone out there, rchipper
  6. Hello, Here is a copy of what I have so far. Pretty generic but I can refine it later. I have not been able to stick with it., keep getting pulled off the project. I still need to modify a few things and could use a little help. The first page looks good but I would like to know how to get the comments to output in the Comments: section. 2) The tool info: How do I shrink it to fit more tools on one page? I tried, but did something to mess it up, dropped off images. 3) The "tool list" report, I don't need the images duplicated, just the listed text. If anyone has time to offer some tips and tricks that would be awesome. I still have more to learn so I will be grinding on. I did not include the other files as I was not sure if anyone has time to help. I will put them up if needed. Thank you, rchipper M3 - YASNAC I80 NEW.pdf
  7. Point well taken. Thank you
  8. Jay, I am running XP, yes I am a bit outdated, maybe it's time to move on and up. As far as seeing the videos ? I do not know what the issue is all I know is that the reseller I contacted to sign up stated that I MUST be running windows7 in order to take the courses and did not explain why. Where this person got the information from I do not know. rchipper
  9. Greetings, Wow, what a let down. My employer agreed to pay for my MastercamU courses but guess what? I don't have Windows 7, and I was told that it is a must in order to take the courses now. I took the 5 week training at our resellers and have been teaching myself Mastercam as I go but that is not cutting it for me. I want to be good, no great. The users forum has been helpful, as well as the many goto meetings with customer support but I want to grow and grow big starting now. Any alternatives? Sorry for venting, just popped my bubble, rchipper
  10. Thanks for educating me on attaching files. I looked again at the .bmp that you sent. I noticed that the first three fields are blank. These are the ones that will not change, for me. ? I am going to start fresh with a new template and be careful to pay attention to the details. I have made so many changes to this one that I'm chasing my tail and probably overlooking the obvious. I would forward you a snapshot but I have this pretty jumbled up, thus, Starting Over. I am grateful for your support and depending on the outcome, I may be back for more. Respectfully, rchipper
  11. Yes. I tried that but when I generate the setup sheet a couple of the fields remain as it was before I changed it. I will give it another try. Another thing I am having difficulty with is the Generated Text to out put the correct information. It outputs the same label in all of the fields. I would send a shot of what I am talking about but I don't know how to attach a file. I'm still new. rchipper
  12. Hello, I am not sure if this is the correct forum but am sending out my question in hopes of getting some assistance. I have gone through most of the Mastercam X6, Creating Setup Sheets with the Active Reports Designer tutorial with, some, ok results. I am learning Mastercam, as well as this and would like to thank all of you that have offered your support in the past. I did download a tutorial and sample files to work with. My question is can I modify the original eight XML tags descriptions ? I do not know XML put from looking at some files it does not look too hard to figure out, am I wrong? If anyone has experience with making/modifying setup sheets and wouldn't mind sharing, I am eager to learn. Oh, I did sign up for MastercamU. Waiting for the e-mail package. Thank you all again, rchipper
  13. Greetings, I am growing into Mastercam and would like to ask if anyone has a opinion and or advice regarding MastercamU courses. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
  14. OK then. Thank you for making my decision that much easier. I appreciate it. rchipper
  15. Greetings, I am thinking of signing up for MastercamU. Does anyone have any comments/reviews? Thank you, rchipper
  16. Hello, I am fairly new to Mastercam and have a question. Is there a way to program families of parts without having to recreate or design each dif. size part. For example I have 4 parts with common features but all 4 parts are a dif. body diameter. I used another software long ago that allowed users to put information in a spread sheat and the program would draw from that to adjust for changes to a part. I believe it was called parametric programming. Mush thanks to everybody for previous support. rchipper
  17. jeff, Thanks for the support. I will look at this. rchipper
  18. Nice, Thank you all. I will be writing the program for a Kitamura, Mycenter-3x mill with a Yasnac i80m control. I have never worked with macros but kind of see the logic. The serial numbers I am currently making actually consist of a, part no.,batch no., mo/yr., then the sequence no.. Would any of you have the time to help me learn, (or better understand the logic), to write and use a macro program. I will give it a shot on my own but I am on a strict timeline. Again, thank you for helping a new guy. rchipper
  19. Greetings, Would anyone happen to know how to sequentially number parts,(engrave), using a macro or other method(s), I do not know enough about Mastercam yet to even know where to begin. I am currently using sub programs for each number change. This is time consuming and taking up memory, any ideas? Thank you, rchipper
  20. JParis, Very nice. I see what you did and appreciate you taking the the time to help a NEW guy. I do have a question, I followed the calculations that you forwarded but I am getting dif. results: Blue line 45.3897= 1.806(thd minor), x 8 rotations x 4(.250 pitch). I am getting 57.792. Am I not doing this correctly? rchipper
  21. Right on. Any how here is a generic sketch of what I am trying to learn to do. rchipper FLAT GEO.MCX-5
  22. Hello, How do I attach a file? This does not appear the same as I remember it. What have I done. rchipper
