  1. Thanks to both of you. That did it.
  2. I projected some curve geometry that was at a 30 degree angle and it turned the curves into splines. I've tried to simplify the splines but they do not convert back to geometry, (splines are red). I can put tool paths to them but the resulting code is really long. I still have a lot to learn and could use some help with this one. Any takers? Thanks in advance. Splines to geo 2-10-17.mcam
  3. Just tried the Auto Drill cycle for chamfering different size holes. That is awesome. I'm still learning. Thank you!!!
  4. Can anyone share with me how to use G41,G42 on a Hitachi Seiki 23D lathe with a Seicos 10L control? Where to input the D values and anything that might help. Any and all input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  5. Hi, Sorry to bother everyone but I'm having trouble finding the, break drafting into lines function in 2017. Does this still exist? I just started using it yesterday. I did a search but nothing came up.
  6. So I was told by my reseller that the code in the post was there it just got messed up during post updates. Corrections made. Thanks to everyone that contributed, I will however save this and try to learn something from it.
  7. Again I am in the shop today so I will dig into this over the weekend and will let you know how it works out for me. Thank you very much.
  8. Thank you Ron. I will try to figure this out. I have very limited experience with editing posts. I am in the shop for the next day or so, I will probably work on it this weekend and test it on Monday.
  9. JParis, Yes Yasnac. Did you come up with anything? I am still fairly new to Mastercam especially when it comes to posts. I have very little experience editing but I am a fast learner.
  10. I did try entering larger values in the work offset window in the plane manager when I created the new planes but it did not affect the output. ??
  11. Greetings, Does anyone know what it takes to have my code post G50 offsets with a J added for offsets after G59? Example: G54J2 G54J3 and so on. I did a quick search for topics on this but did not come up with anything. I contacted my reseller and have not heard back from them yet. Thanks, rchipper
  12. Yep, I had the same problem. Kind of frustrating. I extended the surfaces then trimmed them and created a flat boundary surface to cap off the end.
  13. Chris, I had the same issue but manipulated the surfaces afterward to fix it. Still it's frustrating when you follow course work and it does not give you the correct part. Also some of this course was recorded using X5, running with X8 may be the difference. ?? Best of luck.
  14. Ah, I found what you were talking about Colin, I wasn't necessarily looking to change the setup sheet tool list, is that what you were referring to? I did not realize the Tool List in the operations manager, (right click), was different from the tool list in the Tool paths, Tool Manager, etc. Well I'll be, problem solved. Thanks again Colin
  15. Thank you Colin. I poked around a bit but could not find where to change the "Tool Sort" option. ?? I am not real savvy when it comes to the Active Report thing, still learning. Could you point me in the right direction?
  16. I searched for info on this but came up with nothing. Is there a way to have the Tool Manager, Import/export tools, Report, output the tools in the order they are programmed rather than sequentially, in order?
  17. Thanks Matthew I will check that out.
  18. Thank you for the input. I really like the Dynamic cycles except for the corner thing. I have tried offsetting the first pass and reducing the feed at the start and that does seem to help. One thing I fight the most with the Dynamic cycles is getting operators to trust it. They see the speed and feed and instantly avoid running the cycle or they "used" to slow everything down which would result in cruddy tool performance. Once they open their mind and try it, they are on board. Anyhow, thanks again. I love this place.
  19. Is there a way to control the amount of material the tool takes when rounding corners in the Dynamic mill tool paths? With the step over set to 12% the straights are fine but you can see that stock removal increases on the corners. Several times when holding thin parts the material pulled out of the jaws because the tool takes too much material when rounding corners. ??
  20. Thank you both for your replies. I am still learning Mastercam and C-Y machining. I respect the fact that I need to figure a lot of things out on my own but I am stuck on this one. I have a solid model and I am not sure how to put geometry in the grooves to drive the tool. I tried selecting the solid but it is not taking it. I don't want this done for me, a little help to get me headed in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. rchipper
  21. I was given the task of machining this part on a C-Y axis lathe. I have not tried anything like this before can it be done on this type machine? Internal lathe machining 6-22-15.pdf
  22. So I found out that the lollipop tool was the problem. The "shank" diameter can not be larger than the "shoulder" diameter. I changed my tool definition and it worked fine. Does not give a true representation of the tool but it worked. Just thought I'd throw it out there.
  23. Well I reported it to my reseller and we will see what happens. BenK, Thank you for your input.
