  1. Hey guys, I was just pulling some older programs and tweaking them a bit and I came across this part. i attached it. What I'm trying to do is dynamic core around the diameter. Although the file looks correct and the settings seem right, the feed is outputting improper for me. I am using the Mastercam High feed option to limit my speeds on the corners. Perhaps I'm doing this wrong. Have not seen this issue yet with the amount of Dynamic Cutting I have been doing. I have my min feedrate to 150 and maximum set to 250. I have set my max air cutting feedrate to 1180, which is the limit of my machine. For some reason though when I post, I was scanning it to see what its doing and it is ramping up to the 1180 IPM while in cut. I guess only those who use the high feed option would know what I'm talking about. Is something wrong with my settings that I can't see? Thanks in advance. HSM.MCX-7
  2. It may cut like xxxx if you don't use anything. I use the Mastercam High Feed option to control corners. It works fine. That was my main point about not HAVING to use G61.1. There are other methods. I'm going to try to adjust the L75 parameter and see how it changes. Thanks. **EDIT** I ran a sample program with the G61.1 on with the default K value of 70 and the L75 parameter at 1000. As suspected it was too slow to get to speed, however the machine was still jerky. Perhaps its cause of too many X and Y moves in the program? I changed it to 300 and re ran the program. I had to stop it cause it sounded like it was going to take off running it was jerking so bad. Seems I would have to go higher to smoothen out the jerkiness. Its already high as it is and never has time to reach optimal speeds. Seems Mastercam does a better job for me for the HSM. I'm not sure what other parameters I should look at or play with to get it right so I'm going to stick with Mastercam's high feed options. Produces more code, however it runs a lot smoother. FWIW - default on the L75 parameter on this machine is 1000. Also one more thing to the OP. Sorry for hijacking your thread.
  3. What kind of feeds are you running though?
  4. lol perhaps you are right. Anyway, it is not a Matrix control. Its a Fusion 640M. Machine is a VTC 250D. So lets say I put the L75 to half. Would it be smoother in the corners? Right now the K value does indeed slow the toolpath down. I am not sure what I am missing. It seems to me you are telling me the K value only adjusts accuracy. Wouldn't this be a result of slowing down? If I run G61.1 with default K value, its jerky as hell. I can't keep it like that as it hits pretty hard. What will cutting the L75 value to half actually do?
  5. I can't use the G05 P2. Apparently it was not an option the owner wanted. As for the L75, its set to 1000.
  6. I have not used G61.1 since 2007. I use the high feed option in Mastercam. I do a lot of HSM, nothing breaks. Mastercam handles the corners quite well. Actually better than G61.1 in my opinion. So its not necessary per se. I never blamed the machine. I said i preferred Mastercam control. I actually called Mazak, they never told me about the other parameters AT ALL. So please don't put words in my mouth. Good to know. Never hurts to be safe so I will still make my operators aware.
  7. I was told by Mazak that I just need to change the K value to alter the acceleration/deceleration. Eg G61.1,K70 Said to make adjustments, change the K value, however like I mentioned above, it still started/stopped too jerky but by the time I was satisfied with the speed, it was just way too slow in corners. Depending on your needs, you may like it, I just found it too rough for my liking.
  8. You don't need to use G61.1 I just change the feed paramter from 8000 to 30000. If you have a good programmer that can control the feeds through Mastercam High Feed option, you don't have to worry. G61.1 sucks in my opinion. It jerks too much. Can't change the acceleration of it afaik besides the K value but it gets to a point when the jerkiness is gone, it ends up way too slow in the corners. Its a weird feature. they ahve the right idea, but needs adjusting I think. My max feed is 1180 IPM hence why my parameter is set to 30000. You have full control in Mastercam for slowing corners. I prefer it that way but definitely do not HAVE to use G61.1 There is one issue though and that is if using conversational, you need to remember that parameter is set high and your operators need to be aware of it if they are writing programs at the machine over those speeds.
  9. @rocheey1 - I tried the cmd prompt commands first. Windows rename command is limited. The ren command won't work. Not on my machine anyway. I did "shift+rightclick" on the folder I wanted to change and selected "open command window here" Typed in ren *.mcx-6 *.mcx-7 I get the following message "The system cannot find the file specified" @John - I did the update folder utility originally. Does not change them. They were created with X6 so the file extension stays as mcx-6. FWIW I did do a test on a folder to see how it worked and it was fine, files still opened ok, and the preview pane worked. So its ok @Crazy - That is what I am trying to avoid. I don't want to open and duplicate them all. I mean I suppose I could use the utility to duplicate them. Then i would have to find one to delete all the X6 duplicates. I think problemns would only occur if you went the other way and switched them to say X5. X7 will open all X6 files but X5 will not open X6. Was just a suggestion. If a moderator feels this shouldn't be here, feel free to delete it. I just thought it might help.
  10. I have X7 currently installed on my computer. I have a bunch of files from X6 that are .mcx-6 files. When I open one up and hit save, it makes a duplicate copy but in mcx-7.I found a program that changes the extension quickly and efficiently. Another reason for changing it is so you can see the preview window. With an mcx-6 file, the preview window is blank. Bulk Extension Changer. Its Free. http://sourceforge.n...e-c/?source=dlp
  11. I was not aware of this database. I could certainly add some parameters to it if you like. Where could I see it?
  12. The video I have up here is a 3/4" Endmill. And it is a 5 flute, not a 4. Its not by any means pushing near 16ft pounds. To be exact with that depth and stepover, it works out to 11.02.
  13. Look, I'm not here for a pissing match ok? Sorry. That is all.
  14. Dude, that speed and depth is about 16 ft pounds of torque on the tool. Look into the parameters he is cutting. Tell me again I'm doing it wrong. http://www.youtube.com/user/HertzCOD4 http://www.youtube.c...A?feature=watch
  15. I still have a hard time believing that. I actually have a tonne of video on youtube of HSM. The only thing I questioned was tool deflection. I would love to see how long the tool will actually last before snapping. I'm not saying he didn't do it, I just said its hard to believe seeing as I have done a lot of HSM. That's all.
  16. I'm not talking about your video, lol. I was talking about Chris' with 650IPM at .05 radial.
  17. Now that is impressive. Except 10% is .05. Still though, would like to see that. Lots of deflection going on there at .05 even.
  18. What I mean is it is not impressive if he is only taking .01 radial. Works out to 6.5 cubic inch/min. Even .02 is not impressive. That's why I asked what his radial cut is. Sorry if I offended you.
  19. To Crazy, I really like your analogy. I'm not an owner however I tend to really think outside the box as well for him. It would be nice if he offered us here that bonus incentive
  20. Dynamic Milling with Open Pocket. HSM 4340 HTSR 4650 RPM .0376 IPR 3/4" 5 Flute Iscar Carbide Endmill .06 WOC 1.925 DOC MRR - 20.
  21. You can use these paths on any machine. All it means when they say "you can't" is the accuracy will not be there. That is why we have finish toolpaths. Nice work Crazy.
  22. Hi guys, once in awhile when I get a dxf from a customer, I get this popup when opening it. "Select layout to Import" Layout1 Layout2 It doesn't seem to matter which one I select, as they both appear to be the same, however what causes this?
  23. Ok. Thanks.I thought for sure I had seen a feedrate somewhere during simulation. Must be going crazy, lol.
