May be I wasn"t to clear.
We use modifyed carbide chamfering tools - dia 6mm with 0.5mmx0.5mm 45deg edge. Is there a way of chamfering up to a vertical wall (edge of a multi level pocket)without creating boundary geometry.
Somthing like check surfaces but for 2d geometry.
Cheers
Any tips on chamfering.
The components we manufacture have to be totally
deburred , and chamfering at various levels up to vertical walls ( without hitting them ) currently
is a time consuming process to program.
I am currently creating geometry away from vertical walls and then contouring. As there can be 100s of walls to aviod doing this is as much fun as watching paint dry.
Is there an easyer way.
Cheers
The error is generated when MCam is processing the surfaces. When the error is generated it seem to draw some splines at the level that it wont pass.My tool restriction boundary is a simple rectangle drawn by draw rectangle ,2 points .

I tryed changing step down with no luck.
Changed the tolerance from 0.02mm to 0.005 and it worked but as there are 3016 surfaces in the model, took bloody forever.

Iso all they way.
We still have problems with Canned cycles but so far thats all.
We have 3 DMU 50 E machines and are trying to justify a bigger one.
If you like I"ll e-mail our post.

What sort of rpm do you have.
Weve been HSM for some time (Aluminium) and find
that no 2 Machines are the same , even though they are. We start of at a safe speed and feed and crank it up after programs are proven .
Most tool manufacturers offer safe starting values
then its a matter of finding your own preferances.
Its the stuff you can never get out of your socks . When it comes off hot its attracted to tongues , ears and hair . Swarf from drilling opps can be used for shaving . Apprentices love cleaning the stuff up . It also has the ability to get thru gaps smaller than its self and stuff up micro switchs , coolant pumps ect.
Does M/cam reconise tapered tools when machining
surfaces and solids. ie machining a vertical wall
at that blends into a 2degs wall. The tool is a seco minimaster with 1.5degs per side taper.

Found that file OK but its clear as mud to me.
We need predator to reconise M11B0 in G-code.Also
reasonable cycle times drilling using NCI.
This is the first chance Ive had to try VCNC
out since puchacing it and so far I,m impressed.

Just the cycle time .
Also is there a way of setting up odd M codes in predator when verifying G-code so it doesn't throw up an error message.
If you like I can e-mail you a small programm
Just getting started running predator vertual cnc
inside mastercam with C-hook.
Everythings fine until drilling and tapping where the estimated cycle time blows out.
Any help would be much appreciated.

It could be backlash on the M/C or if you have exact positioning on it may be tool flex.
Try a tool path rotated 45degs, If the line is still there its probably not back lash.

Does anyone now if a macro for text on a fanuc
controler excists. We are engraving part No# on all
our parts now and I,m getting sick of programing
them in Mcam.
If they could do it on the M/C then I can get back to some real work.
Thanks
Save to libary works OK, But I find merging new drawing into excisting one and deleting old geometry keeps operations in groups, and then add chains etc, just seems less confusing seeing what
toolpaths were doing on previous part.
Cheers
Ive heard metion of a solids tutorial book
How do i get one and from where.
Does it include machining tutorials or just modeling.
Also how indepth is it.
Cheers
