  1. Use the generic Fadal post set-up to whatever Fadal format that they run there. IT should work fine for general work.
  2. We have a problem with it freeing up the solids license when I shutdown and restart MC. I have to reboot the system to start MC with solids. I have checked the Nethasp manager and it says its free, but it will not let me retake it unless I reboot. But it does work well sharing the lathe license between the two shops here.
  3. These guys have done some stuff for me and have done a wonderful job. I even took in a broken core once. The scanned both pieces and reassembled it into a PRO/E model for me by merging the two surface models together. HTH LASER DIGITIZING
  4. I use a Quadro FX3450 for all of my applications. Mainly Pro and MC. I run Dual 20's and hopefully soon dual 24's. I have my resolutions set at 1600 x 1200 and everything appears properly on the screen.
  5. I wouldn't reccomend that set-up, but if that is what you have I guess you will have to go with it. I am assuming you are trying to slot something. Put the part on the FTP and I will have a better understanding of what you are trying to cut. IF you are slotting with this endmill, I would run it at 3056 rpm at 6.4 ipm with a doc of .0075" at full width, and make sure you have a good air blast. NO coolant, this will cause thermal shock in your carbide and your edges will breakdown very quickly. A three flute endmill will have the wrong geometry for cutting this and it will not be as rigid. I would reccomend High Speed Machining of this part, but that would require you to get the proper 4 flute cutter with appropriate geometry, Good quality center draw collet holder, or shrinkfit, and a rigid machine. What type of cut are you looking to do? Pocket? Contour? Slot? The more information you provide us on this forum the more likely you will get good advice. There are many many strategies available to cut different parts and not one works for them all.
  6. Fadal rigidty will be a problem. Are you surface machining or trying to side mill profile. You will also need to use a high quality cardide. OSG or Jabro.. at a push you could also use a Robb Jack. Please give me the size of endmills, number of flutes, Manufacture of endmill, max spindle speed, and type of holder. All of these things are very very important when you are hardmilling. If you don't set this up properly it will fail in a shower of sparks. General rule of thumb at this Rc 400 sfm roughing 600 sfm semi finish, and 800sfm for finishing with a 2 flute coated carbide endmill I will be back in the morning and try help some more. By the way net ettiquete using all caps is like yelling.
  7. What kind of Machine, Holder setup, and cutter do you have a available? These things will greatly affect the appropriate speeds and feeds.
  8. Sorry, but it doesn't list it in my help for this toolpath. I can say for a surety that there is not cornor smoothing on a HST finish scallop toolpath. Maybe in MCX2?
  9. Burn baby burn on this one. You length to diameter aspect is getting a little longfor that corse of a thread mill. You would probably expierence a little taper.
  10. Makino offers 170,000 in there Hyper J Micro Machining Center. There is no collet or toolholder. Somehow the tool mounts directly into the spindle.
  11. Makino, Makino, Makino. Roku will not compare with the Sgi.4 in the V22 controller. I have ran a heads up porgram on my SnC 64 and the Roku and I beat it by over 30%, because the Makino processed the code better. IMHO
  12. You can go into customize cut at point and change the settings there. Why would you want to lead in with the power off? On the Makino if you make contact with the workpiece with power off it will give you an alarm message when you turn the power on called non-contact point not found, and it will not allow you to machine. IF you are needing to cut down on machine time by rapiding your leadins you are probably sunk WEDM'ing. If I have alot of air to cut I generally hard code in some rapid moves, or break it into some smaller countours. How big are your leadins? You don't need much more than your cutting wire diameter.
  13. Makino cutting power stays on until it sees a M7 to cut the wire, M30 or M99 to end the program. I think there is another code to suspend power, but I would have to look it up and check the application of the code. We run a Makino U32K here.
  14. If you want e-mail me your file and I will take a look at it and try to set it up for how I would do it.
  15. I have that tab permenantly checked so that I don't forget it. I set it up in my default ops.
  16. What kind of machine are you running. I usually maually break all my tabs and program them seperatly on 4 axis. I have less problems with our Makino wire that way. I also have my post set up to physically force UV back to zero before I move to the next pocket. So to answer your question break your passes up into individual ops and then you can rough all pokets, tab all pockets, and then finish all pockets. 4 axis mulitple pockets throws a little kink into things sometimes. Drop your file onto the FTP and I will be glad to take a look at it tom. morning.
  17. Hey Crazy I will be glad to answer some of your Pro/E questions. Drop me a line. I have some expeirence and some wonderful resources setting next to me. And yes you are right on how you feel about this forum and its uses. This stuff should be in off topic, but for my 2cents worth Gibbs is an adequet software and will function for many things. Their "forum" stinks to the high heavens, and their tech support is not much better. If you can figure it out on your own you can make parts, but money will be a little harder to get.
  18. The only toolbars I run are file, delete and some of my toolpath stuff. Very minimal on screen, but very heavy on the right mouse button. As John13 said above it is customizable to your wants and needs. I wish pro/e would give me that functionality.
  19. Western Ky Tech in Paducah Ky had a real good class course selection in MC. I was there back in 94-96 when I was serving my Apprenticeship with Fisher Price.
  20. I would just like to add not bashing MC. I am just having some issues that no one at my resellers or MC have been able to answer. I am not a network guy and don't want to be. I can say that it is intermitent, not predictable, and very frustating on both ends. The one good thing that came out of this is the IT guy gave me a key and password to the server so that I could reboot myself on the weekends. All it took was for him to have to drive over an hour to get here just to reboot the server so that it would free up my license and bam here you go and this is what I want you to do.
  21. I wish I had never seen the nethasp. This is just my personal opinion. Between the system scans, upgrades, and virus checks, I loose my license on a daily basis and have to reboot to get it back. I also intermitently have to reboot to be able to load the solids option. The nethasp is on the other end of the building in the server room so on the weekends I have to make the trip up there if there is a problem. I am begging the boss to get rid of the nethaps and go back to individual hasps. Mastercam Rocks, netserver causes my stomach to roll.
  22. If it does it automatically I would give it a quick check off of a gauge block to make sure it was correct. ¼° sounds like a lot to me and that is typically set-up error in plane levels.
  23. Yeah I know how could anybody get in the way of the big head of yours.
  24. Have you checked you machine parameters for the guide hts? When I change guides on the Makino I have to reset the machine parameters after I establish guide ht to the table zero. This is not the program numbers. It is actually a number in the machine parameters which tells the machine where in Machine Absolute the upper and lower reside.
  25. Hey Jay I like how you have Hardmill and me forever immortalized there on your left monitor.
