  1. I was sent a new ini file from CNC because of an issue we had with the HST's and the NETHASP. That is getting a little over my head. But I am almost certain that it is connecting to a specific ip.
  2. No nethasp operates off of a network server so there is no local usb hasps. This allows people to pull just the lathe licesne or the wire license while someone else has the Mill license. I know I am the only one using this now though so I know someone else doesn't have the license.
  3. I keep loosing my solids license on our nethasp. This is intermitent and I can't seem to piece together why it is happening. I go to open a solid and manipulate it and the next thing I get is the message solids option is not available contact your reseller. I can't even shut MC down and restart it to get the license back. I have to completely reboot to get it back. This can be a pain when you have to relog into PRO, INTRALINK, MAIL, and all of the other programs running. Is there a known issue with Nethasp and solids that could be causing this?
  4. Ok it just happened to me and I had to shut MC down and restart it to get it working again. I was trying to undo a line creation I just completed. I was totally out of the line create funtion. The undo/redo buttons were greyed out. The undo/redo selection under edit was likewise greyed out. I shut MC down and restarted the same file and all is working fine now. Has this been logged as a bug?
  5. Thank you very much Mark. That did the trick.
  6. Some options will stick and some will not. The one that gives me the biggest fit is the defualt to 10000 ipm on the shortest distance feed option.
  7. Most surfaces that come in as an import are pretrimmed. You can untrimm them with the untrim command and then retrim them to the boundary you have established.
  8. I had to have some help with my NETHASP and HST's. MC ended up sending me an new .ini file and things have been much better since. I was getting alot of no cut founds and toolpaths that would not regenerate when I reopened the file. Make sure and submit these to QC and I am sure they will have a reply for you.
  9. P-20 is a big time problem. I would prefere to make everyting out of prehard H13 if P20 is called out. There are some really good grades out there and they have better properties than P-20. If I have to use P20 I get it from International Mold Steel and it is called PX5. It is good stuff.
  10. I only do this if my parts will be out of the tank within the day. I don't like finished parts setting in the tank when other parts are cutting. I have expierenced pitting in the past when the machine has ran over night with finished parts. I usually rough everything and then come back and skim the parts. My wire blocks are 3" by 6" by 1" tall and I usuall get between 50-150 parts out of 1 piece.
  11. That is what we have for the engineers that don't do anyhting.
  12. The control is very easy to set-up tool and work offsets.. Drop me an e-mail and I will see what i can do for you in the morning. We actuall ran code off of our Fadal's to it until I got the post ready. Nothing speacial.
  13. Hvae you tried using open pocket and controlling the amount of overlap with the pocket overlap setting? I reread your post and open pocket will do exactly what you are looking for. [ 07-18-2006, 06:04 PM: Message edited by: HevyMetl ]
  14. My dell lcd is set at 1600 x 1200, and I would go smaller if it would let me. Some of the old guys around here can't see the writting so they bump it up to 1280 x 1024.
  15. This was covered a couple of days ago, but the only work around is to leave copy highlighted and then you can preview the move before you do it. If you accidentally leave the copy option highlighted and make the move you can then select all xform-group and delete the result or the copied from group. HTH
  16. If you leave copy on with a solid in transform you can always go in and select the result or the original by hitting the all button and then xform original or xform result to delete. Pick the All... button and then select xform original or xform result buttons. HTH John the can't remember to select move button.
  17. Henk is correct. If they bought a standalone license instead of a update to your current license you will have to have both hasps installed on the same computer if you want to run both seats. You can run multiple sessions on the same computer we do it here, and there are many others on the forum doing it everyday. One of the nice things about X is that you can do wire and mill work in the same file.
  18. Are you putting a space inbetween the two commands in your launch properties? We run the same way here between the model shop and the mold shop and I don't have any problem with that command layout. You won't be dissapointed after you decide to make the change. Be prepared for a learning curve.
  19. Make sure you are exporting the files from Intralink into a seperate directory. I was working out of the ProI directory and found that this is forbidden. Once I started exporting the assemblies to a seperate folder I am no longer having any problems.
  20. OK here it goes. Solidworks is generally easier to use and functions for many many design issues. They are much weaker when it comes to free form surfacing and engineering functions. We run Pro/E wildfire 2.0 and when solidworks came into demo they could not compete in our applications from design to engineering to manufacturing through put. If it were for internal stuff and non engineering I would stay with Solidworks.
  21. I went to Dual Dell Ultrasharp 20"'ers and will never go back. I used to leave here everyday with a throbing headache. Since I have swithced I only get the headache when certain engineers enter the shop.
  22. I totally understand...I started using the step method after some bad iges expierences from out of house, but it has its own set of problems sometimes.
  23. Thats my point. You do not have to have the solids option to bring solids into MC now in X. You only need the solids option to create and manipulate the solid parts (translate, rotate, ect.) I use the solids to create my surfaces with the surface to solids option and find the files generally cleaner through step than I do through iges. I also use WCS alot to machine different sides of the solid without having to rotate it around to my top construction plane.
  24. Gavetta, With the new features in X you can bring the solids into MC by using a step file. You can not manipulate them but you can utilize your WCS to machine the solids if necessary. I find that solids work very well on some parts and others I use surfaces for machining.
  25. +1 David I tried both and I will stick with the Duals. I have dual 20's setup and this rocks for mastercam and Pro/e.
