  1. So I just got my new computer running. Dell T7500. It has an Nvidia FX 4800, running windows 7 64 bit. Everything seems to be working except the solid face selection. It takes forever to process a solid face highlight. If I run my mouse over the top of a solid face it hangs up and then finally highlights that surface face. Any suggestions? I did download the new drivers, and I’m running X4mu1. Shawn.
  2. WoW! I guess in all fairness my peelmoves were not that small, but damn that sucks. Logically it does make sense. Still though it was only 35 minutes of machining, and then he hommed it between parts! You would think it would relubricate the bearings?
  3. No way!! Was this machine ever crashed? Its no different than machining a small part with very small work envolope. Something else has to be wrong. If not than Mori needs to state it in there warranty documents! I use peel mill on my Haas and have done it for alot longer than that with no problems! If Mori cant outlast a Haas, they need to drop the price! Maybe one or more of the oiler injectors got plugged up?
  4. Thanks also Verndog! It has already been purchased, but this is good info for my home build I'm going to do.
  5. I really haven’t used a duel monitor setup before. I was wondering when you guys set them up, what side do you like to be dominate if you are right handed? I would think having my main screen on the right side would be better, and have the ops manager and level manager on the left screen. Would you have the screens split equally in the workspace center, or is one screen in the direct view of the workspace and the other way off to the left or right? Shawn.
  6. Ok here is a question, how do I get to the Mcam event log???
  7. I had Tim come over and he couldn't figure it out. I hope there is a way we can get it to work! I havn't had time to trouble shoot it, so hopefully you can find something. P.S. Nice to see you updated to a new 3d mouse.
  8. I have to have it pre built! It's just the way it needs to be done here.
  9. Ok I got ya! I honestly thought the raid was the other way around. We store everything on a server so no need for a back up! Thanks for the advice Evil!
  10. Well I have to go with Dell. quote: 2x300GB SAS 15k Hard Drive RAID 0 Arraywhats the difference between 1&0 array? quote: 1TB Western Digital Green Power HD (BACKUP!!) Whats this? Thx,Shawn.
  11. I had my space pilot button mapped to Cplane = Tplane. The problem is I cant get it to stick when I leave Mcam. I have to go in and format that button every Mcam session?
  12. The company wants to use Dell so this is what our IT guy came up with, with money budget of 5k in mind for everything. What do you guys think? Dell Precision 7500 Desktop 2 x Intel Xeon E5520 Quad Core 2.26GHz Processor 4GB DDR3 RAM 2x300GB SAS 15k Hard Drive RAID 1 Array 16X DVD-ROM Drive Gigabit Ethernet NVidia Quadro FX4800 1.5GB PERC 6i/R RAID Card 2 x Dell UltraSharp U2410 24in LCD Monitor Microsoft Windows 7 64-Bit XP Shawn..
  13. quote: PS, I wish this forum had a spell checker.....maybe some day I will learn how to spell I type everything in Word first then cut and paste, and still have spelling errors! Lol I think we all are on the same page about verification for really only 4-5 axis machines to start. When you already have it, then use it for everything else. I program our HAAS 5ax with no simulation! I just need to spend a lot of time at the machine with a clipped rapid and fast feed hold. Not a problem so far, just a big time waster. I’m not doing a lot of full 5ax stuff either though.
  14. quote: That is very debateable and subject to the part value you are programming. I think he meant also crashing the machine tool and blowing out a spindle.
  15. quote: What's the ICAM running price-wise these days? Well list is about 27k. Since Mastercam and Icam have partnered up recently, they will give out a big discount to Mcam users. Puts it around 15k. You get custom post by them, Virtual Machine, Material removal, Collision detection and Machine Kinematics verification. I don’t know how CAMplete works, but if you want to do multiple machines with Kinematic simulation you have to by a whole new package. You can’t just own the simulation then throw in a machine and post. They will give a discount if you want to do multiple machines, but it needs to be ordered at the same time. So basically you will have a seat for each machine. S.B.
  16. quote: BTW, I would not EEEEEEEEEEEEVEN seriously consider running 5-Ax machines without a tool like Vericut or Icam Fissed! Man I crack myself up!
  17. quote: I know a full seat with all the tools costs closer to $30k, but that is with Machine/Control building, multi-axis, opti-path, ect. 10k barely gets you started with Vericut. I just had it quoted! 28k for everything except opti-path, then add anoter 10k with opti-path. I went with ICAM myself!
  18. quote: Whatever you do, do not stoop so low as to buy one of those. I just might have to hurl and think you guys have REALLY gone off the deep end. LAME!! This James guy is out of his mind!
  19. quote: Now since you are getting some nice holders, I think you need our Versa-LOK to assembly your tools in them. Nice! No HSK though? 63A we will have.
  20. Yep! Happens every time! Pretty much useless with bigger STL files.
  21. quote: Well, tool detection won't solve this problem if the tool is getting pulled out when being cut and not detected until the part is done. Just trying to help I know you were just trying to help! What happened was the tool broke one of the flutes and the cutting pressure pulled it out. I actually had this in a regular side lock holder and it was really tight when I pulled it out. No matter though, new machine will have Nikken milling chucks! quote: all Z's in absolute will retain their value and not move. Program = toast. It took me 3 hours to fix it, going thru what was 245 opps. Its fixed but not without scrapping one more part.
  22. quote: I don't know the geometry, but since 0.02" isn't much, is it possible to move the home position and just regen? With such a small change maybe clearances won't be affected?? Also if there are only a couple of views, you could probably do some calcs and adjust offsets accordingly at the machine. This probably will work. I need to play with it Monday to see if Its feasible. I do have 6 different planes, and they all have a good amount of work on them and tools. quote: Ouch. You need TCP I think this is the post change shft_misc_r : 0 #Read the axis shifts from the misc. reals #Part programmed where machine zero location is WCS origin- My new machine coming, has TCP and dynamic fixture comp! I think I will just go in the operations and change them there. I’m new to this, and I don’t know a lot about posts, so I think I will feel more comfortable just doing it the hard way for now. quote: I think the more important lesson here is the solve the root cause. Find a better holder solution where you tool won't pull out Well there is that! Also new machine will have tool detection. quote: Can I ask a stupid question here. Why can't you just lower the Z offset on the mafchine verses reporting with the longer offset. You will still have an extra .02 taken off after posting with the new length so what is done is done and the only way to ix it would be drop the whole program .02 or .05 if you got the stock. Put the tool back where is suppose to be and rerun. I think you are making more work that needs to be. Well I do have extra stock to use. I programmed everything off rotation centerline on the 5axis HAAS. If I lower the z offset down to clean up, the top view will clean but all my rotation planes will be @ the wrong z height. If I move my geo down in Mcam, I’m pretty sure the z depths won’t adjust for that. I need to see Monday, maybe I’m making this harder than it needs to be! Shawn.
