  1. Shoutout ot 5ax, how's it going, did henry b. ever get in contact with you.
  2. Guys, does anyone know if the verisurf holeaxis is ready for X3?
  3. Ya, the tech Db is a good idea but way to cumbersome for quick pathing, plus the fact that i had to create sketches to get the toolpath to behave the way i wanted it to instead of just picking solid edges( especially chamfering). the Auto feature recognition would bomb out on me if the edges where filleted and i ask you what solid model doesn't have filleted edges. Anyway it's good to be home again.
  4. Location change yes Camworks has solid professor for training and it's not bad at all. that's how i got most of my knowledge. just didn't like the way the software was setup. i'm sure with more practice and a few adjustments to the tech databases i could have got more out of it but i kept running into toolpaths generating wierd stuff when i would change a parameter like tool radius or depth of cut. some stuff just didn't make sense to me and the surfacing algors did not work too well. but then again it could have been me!
  5. Guys, it soooooo good to be back!!
  6. After what seemed like years in the hinterlands working with CAmWorks (ugh!) i'm back with Mastercam. if anybody needs a word or two about the adavantage/disadvantage of Camworks vs. Mastercam i got some insight. But it sure feels good to be back amongst the bretheren. So what's been shaken since i left.
  7. the ability to use 2 different nose radii when doing rough & finish canned cycles.
  8. Geez ,if i lost my member i'd be really upset
  9. X3 Gurus, will i be able to save a file with suppressed features instead of having to unsupress, regen, then save. jess wondurin'
  10. Guys, i'm cutting medical grade stainless with a .032 rough insert, depth of cut is .05, stock is .75 and is necked down to .2. the stock sits between centers. the old program is showing a depth of cut at .100 and a speed of 1273 and feeds of .024 per rev. I'm saying thats way too much as the part starts too flex as it gets down to .200 diameter any ideas of feeds and speeds that will take me down safely
  11. Avs_Fan, that cycle worked great thanks for the help. now i can configure my post to do it for me.
  12. Heavy, i think that you need to suppress the arc commands in the XZ & YZ vectors in your control definitions. look under the arcs command and shut off the support feature for XZ & YZ
  13. Rick, thanks for pulling my bacon outta da fire!
  14. Rick, don't know about IGF but my Machinist says he uses it a the machine when doing MDI. i'll check with him tomorrow as they leave at 3:00 our time.
  15. that's what i wound up doing, but there has to be better way!
  16. Okumas gurus, here's my dilemma. part has a C'Bore 2.25 deep part needs to be drilled 3.5 deep i would like the drill to start at a depth of 2.15 deep and peck at .05" while retracting up to Z.1 for chip clearance. i am using the Okuma G74 drill cycle but cannot get the retract value to go to Z.1. Here is the code: N5 G50 X20. Z20. N10 T0101 N15 G97 S1279 M03 M41 N20 G0 X0. Z.1 M08 N25 Z-2.15 N30 G74 X0. Z-3.25 D.05 L.1 E.13 F.003 N35 G0 Z.1 N40 M09 N45 G0 X20. Z20. N50 M05 N55 M02 the problem i am having is that the drill is only retracting by the "L" value instead of completely clearing the hole. The programming manual also has a "DA" value. is this value used to retract the tool back to the initial retract plane in front of the part. BTW it is a lathe part
  17. otommyo, going good if i can just get my makino wire to accept direct 4-axis i'll be sailin" away Del's been helping me with it so i don't think i'll go fishin" this weekend out of respect
  18. one of our guys is trying to drill nickel 200 with a 135° Ø.210 colbalt drill and is telling me that his drills are galling the part and losing the tips. we are using 60 sfm and using a chip load of .003 per peck, peck deppth is .05 and drill 2.3" deep. any recommendations on drill with coating or new feeds & speeds.
  19. Del, thanks for the help, i tip one for ya tonite
  20. no i'm at lunch right now and also have sent code to makino to verify it is correct.
  21. Rick, no they did not, but i solved it using "R" values instead of I,J,K values. Haven't heard nary a peep from my dealer either!! Del, according to the programming manual A U,V command on a G2-G3 line causes an error. Can i pound these variables out in the post to correct.Iam also trying to figure out the "L" value it looks like an axis wire tilt like in the 4-axis taper move but is it necassary as i am calling a "V" variable in the beginning of the job. Rick, btw my work email address is [email protected]
