  1. "he said im sorry we dont get that deep in mc." sounds like a cop-out to me, at least he should have pointed you in the right direction.
  2. "G", i was under the impression that you would get bug fixes even if you didn't get maintenence. Does this mean the MU1 is an enhancement instead of a fix patch? regards, phil
  3. i am curious about pinch turn apps. My main question is: do you set your turrets to cut at the same "X" value or do you stagger the x value so one side cuts at a certain depth and the other tool cuts deeper. the theory being that the first tool is removing a radial value. Or: do you leave the value the same and double the feed rate?
  4. Guys & Gals, i have been given the task of wiring a large block of graphite. 7x2x4inches. i have never wired graphite before so i am looking for any quirks that might pop up when wiring graphite. also any recomendations on power setting would also be helpful. using .012" wire. straight forward lines and an arc or two but thats about it. No taper just vertical walls. Gee i wish Del were back he'd be all over this like bass on a minnow.
  5. Guys, thanks for the input, that was my thought process but it always helps to have it confirmed.
  6. I am getting a nose radius compensation error when i try to thread mill the face of the stock. i can comp the tool only a thou or 2 before it errors out. am i right in assuming i will need a comp move greater than the offset number i place in my offset page.
  7. yea i was thinking of threadmilling but the PTB's want us try roll tapping first. Threadmilling will be my answer when the roll tapping causes trouble. thanks for the help
  8. make a copy of teh post and multiple your X,Z,R variables by a negative 1 in the post blocks that apply and save as a new post to be used when necessary.
  9. Guys, anybody have success tapping a 1/4_28 roll tap in inconel. do you need special tapping oil? Feeds & speeds? any help appreciated
  10. John, definitely needs to be a sticky...
  11. "I say that because eventually in their pursuit of the cleanest code on the planet, they are going to forget/miss something and get burned!" Amen Brotha, why should i care if a G1 is being called more than once, the machines don't care they just cuts. i worry more about the start of file, tool changes, end of file features. if the post is good and the code is bad then so was my programming!
  12. Ron, that's my problem..the debugger is not working it just crashes upon startup so i can't debug my post. i'm going to have to go back to X2 debug there, then take the post and update to X3. i just talked to CNC and their scratching their heads trying to figure out why it crashes. Lars, reinstall did not solve problem
  13. Steve, i loved the fastmode debug method, nice and simple for simple folks like me. i actually had a thought the other day but it got lonely for another and left. one of my favorite 3 stooges quotes comes from Curly. " i'm trying to think but nothing is happening"
  14. Lars, i am in contact with both my reseller and Tolland. i should try a reinstall, in fact i'll do a reinstall and let you know how it goes.
  15. "Easy ... Use Titex DrillS ( Made in Germany )" the easy part is ordering the drills!! .1mm = .004" is this a mill or lathe op, if lathe, can you buy canulated stock? we had a job very similar to these dims and we were able to purchase cannulated stock. the issue we had with drilling such a small hole was the initial peck, the drill point would grab and snap. also you'll need a high speed spindle for the SFM required by a drill that small. My titex catalogue shows a solid carbide micro presision drill at Ø.1mm but it's flute length is only .5mm. i think you might find it difficult to locate a drill with such a small dia. vs. depth. you have a 15-1 ratio on dia. vs. depth and that's a whole lotta depth.
  16. lars, good to hear from you, i have a good system with lots of video ram and plenty of on board RAM but i have vista business and i wonder if this has anything to do with it.
  17. My X4 debugger is crashing my system and the X3 debugger never worked right. i have to use X3 right now because i am sharing files with other X3 users. Dont' have the option to have others upgrade to X4. i'll deal with the X4 debugger issues later. Is there anyway i can get the posted code to output the post block info in X3 other than using the Debugger which turned out to be just a bugger instead of a debugger
  18. and i was no help at all.... j/k,
  19. use your toolpath filter and set the arc motion in the y,z plane.. make sure your arc definitions in the control definitions page supports arcs in y,z plane.
  20. i am geting an error message that states, "error reading setup file" i am using Vista Pro 32 bit
  21. John, thanks for the help i was thinking along those lines but i had the variable outside the brackets as a seperate variable that was being calculated and then added to the equation. i jess love this place i'll post my results.
  22. i have a formula [[[3.0/#111]+#112]*360] w3.0 [#100= H] my issue is that #112 has to add .003 every time it runs and that number is added to the result of the first move so the first pass will be #112 +.003 but the second move must be the reuslt of the first move +.003 in other words i have to keep adding .003 to the result of the previous move. how do i formulate the variable to accomplish this
