  3. Thad. Many thanks I see what you are saying and yes I can save these to a file. So when MC calclulates the speed and speed it does not do the same for the plunge feed? George.
  4. Thanks I will have ago in the morning. George.
  5. Can any body help again? If I set speeds and feeds from materials the plunge and retract speeds come up at about 1% of the surface speed can I change this in any way?
  6. I was just going to ask how you Ridgid Tap Imperial threads with a metric config. And I have just found the Tool list - Big MM-Inch. It seems to convert all the inch tools and taps Etc, to metric, and feeds and speeds? Am I correct?
  7. Hi Bigfoot. I expect it depends what you already know. But from my own expereance I have found that Mike Matteras CD's to be a great help in understanding MC Mill up to level 2. Books? I have Jonathan Lin and Tony Shiue Masteracm Version 9. I find it good. I expect to be shot down in flames, as I am also a new member. But what the heck... Just my opinion... George.
  8. Sad to say but one subject I can reply with experence. All the best to the poor fellow, and wish for a speedy recovery.
  9. Hi Funny old life aint it.. Frank posted a thread the other day about welding up a component he had miss machined. Talking to my mate today, he has just flown back to the UK after spending 3 days in Alabama US, he was there to weld up a mismachined 3D tool they all thought he was some sort of God.... All I can say is you dont let a lump of metal beat you.
  10. Did not want to butt in, but some of you programmers would be horrified how often this happens on the shop floor. As I say if your carefull with it no probs.. But then this is the UK....
  11. HE HE.. I have put in some extra chains in order to even up the distance leaving the chains more or less the same lenght. Now I have an even cut spacing along the component. Anything wrong with this? George.
  12. Limp away ( cant even type now) George.
  13. Sorry James. Should have gone there first.... I'll limp any and lick my wonds..
  14. Whatever the advise, I am keen to learn and want to learn, if only for the hell of it. But. For example ( Max stepover is applied to longest chain, all the other chains are broken into same number of cuts.) I got 6 diff Mastercam books here, could not find that imformation anywhere.Without hounding the hell out of you poor long suffering folk how can I get the answers. LOL.George.
  15. Maybe depends how big the parts is, use TIG and dont be greedy do it in little bites and let it cool between.
  16. I am in complete awe, of Glenn's knowledge and intellegence. But are you trying to say that in order to understand Mastercam you require a Degree in Mathmatics?
  17. Glen. Level 2 + Solids. Its not for a specific job its just I like to try and undrestand what you can and cant do and why. How come you know all this stuff and i'm just stupid....
  18. Thanks Glen I see what your saying that is what is happening. If I break it down I no longer get a blend between contours?? Thanks George.
  19. Before we start please forgive my ignorance and stupidity..... But If I construct a wireframe with a profile at each end and 2 inbetween. Then do a loft toolpath to cut in the across direction, with along and across cut set to 1.5mm and cutting direction across. Why does the across cut spacing alter and get finer as it progresses along and past the inner profiles? If this makes sense to anybody can you help??? George.
  20. Hey... I wouldnt put money on it but I think I just contributed... (Haas Toolroom Mill) He He .... George.
  21. Yes find it quite easy only use CNC. No matter what people say (not sure what you pay) but it has to be good value for the money. Needs a few hardware mods but thats up to the operator. Try the MP Master post from this site a few mods and its great. RS simple, quite easy to config. Floppy no great probs ( but drive is extra) Hey, looks like I contributed somthing.... George.
  22. Thanks Jimmy. Understand what you are saying, and I am thankful for the advise I have recieved, My message really is dont frighten away all the virgins....
  23. OK i'm new. I use the Forum for imformation on things i'm not sure about, I would not think of asking somone to give me a post, but I may ask for advise when I modify the post I use. You saying dont help me till I give you some imformation?I know nothing... I have asked for imformation, and have recieved sensible advise. What I got to do wait til I'm an old Buzzard then find someone to bicker with... LOL. George.
