  1. I Dont think you can alter the position of the two you mention. You have to drag them after they are opened. George.
  2. Set the boxes where you prefer them. right click in tool bar go to tool bar states, type a name in the new toolbar box and save, check the box to make default and they will always open in this position.
  3. Many thanks to both. Now bought it ! Gone for 32 gig. Using Qaudro 2000 at moment seems to be pretty good. Hear what you are saying Mic, but have to keep to some sort of budget ! George.
  4. I am looking at a Dell T7600 ( Xeon E5-2620 (6 core 2.00 GHz 15mb cache )). Going to go 64 bit. Dont know or care too much about what really makes them work. So can someone who does advise if a wise choice or not. Only upgrade is to Nvidia 2000. Many thanks. George.
  5. Greg. The surface normal can be thought of as a vector that points away from the surface at a 90 degree angle all round. The direction of the normal can be and often is, different for every position on the surface The normal is used for certain creation, manipulation and machining operations. While the normal is not continuously displayed, whenn shading is not active the side of the surface the normal points away from is a solid colour. The other side appears dull grey. The direction can be flipped using the Modify, Normal function. Copied from Mastercam Handbook. George.
  6. Hi Dave Yes you got it there, just change the 1 to a 0 and it will post old style code as you require. The other thing is the thread chamfer and angle are set on the control with setting 95/96 on the machine.use M23/24 to turn it on or off. it is modal so you only need to insert a M23 into the code line once and it will stay on. The Q will only post out if you are using multi start threads. I am sure that Trevor can sort it out for you.(He's my best mate now that I have managed to insult him!) But it wont hurt to try and understand how to do it as you can bet, sometime down the line you will need to do it all again ! George
  7. Sorry Trevor ! Did not intend it to come across like that I really should have said offering a better discription. Understand fully what you are sayinging ,I was just offering a quick fix to get Dav eup and running. George.
  8. I need to say this a bit slower maybe. Machine axis switches Threading type old or new. new type will post- G76 P----- Q---- R---- G76 X-- Z-- P-- Q-- R-- F-- Old type will post- G76 X-- Z-- I-- K-- D-- A-- F-- Geo
  9. Think your using new style G76 threading. Need to change switch to old 6T style for Haas. Should output just one line then. George.
  10. Nvidia Quadro 2000. 2 weeks ago, used install CD for coffee cup, and downloaded latest drivers. Very pleased. No issues. X
  11. Same colour as bacground ?
  12. Mouse settings - show pointer trails ?
  13. Yes your quite correct. Try drawing sharp corners then have a play with the settings and you will see that you can chamfer of fillet corners, however in the same finish path you can only do one or the other. Geo
  14. If you have use canned drill cycles checked in your machine dif, they have to be configed in the post. If you uncheck them.drill cycles will post long code. Therefore if you have use canned cycles and they are not configed in post it will post out custom drill cycle just as you are getting. At least I think thats right.
  15. Seat belts tightened, canopy back, ready to be shot down... Cant do it in X4 ? Mastercam is only another tool.Use it to do what you want,if it cant do what you want,Post out what it can do and change the code, its only 2axis lathe stuff. If you cant code a plunge and a feed should you be involved with cutting metal? A lot cheaper than 2/3 years maintenance.and more satisfying.Time to pull the ejector seat. Be sure im not getting at anyone, just we seem to forget the basics and come to rely too much on software.
  16. Just had a 250mm Dia Polyprop OD turning job to cut.Long taper lots of material to remove. Horrible stuff to cut as you cant get it to chip.a normal OD rough path would have been a nightmare.so I Used a groove chain toolpath.Used a normal OD tool, using the peck, dwell and depth cuts, nice big stepover (which is now a percentage of the total tool width not insert width as a grooving tool would be.) using the groove toolpath, just had to extend the chain to accomodate the full tool width at the start.Material came off in 6 inch long ribbons 3 dustbins full, and all fingers intact!Ran the full programme 40 mins without having to stop for tangles or birds nest.Just thought the idea might help someone with similar jobs.It would be nice to have peck and dwell in normal OD turning for stringy material. I expect some Lathe guys are already using this method,if so sorry to waste your time!! George.
  17. Lathe plug and play.. yea right, want to loose a few fingers and maybe an eye! Given up matainence, money better spent converting beer into urine.
  18. Vielen Dank Gunther dies ist das beste, Mai ich wünsche Ihnen ein sehr glückliches Weihnachten How is it that Gunther can get all the required imformation into one page, and CNC give us pages of useless eyecandy!Bigger and more is never very pretty, maybe the 8 year old's who write these programmes at CNC should take notice.Engineering excellence comes from simplicity not bulls poo.
  19. Also this is missing the point of what this thread is about. The area of machine development at the moment is in Multi tasking process intergration. Mill/Turn multi spindle multi axis.Put simply and quickly. If MC cant get simple 2axis lathe right what chance have they for future programmers Machinists using the software? I am well aware of the fixes and workarounds for 2 axis stuff,I use it all day.But the bottom line is that MC lathe is not good and lathe maintenence is a waste of money. Maybe I will pack it all in and buy a seat of MC Art. George.
  20. Don I hear what your saying, but if its a deep hole with little clearance your method will retract on a -5 degree path and collide on the way out. This could be overcome if you had ID Rough and ID Finish Paths. As Chris said it`s a lathe and the software should never allow this to happen.Yes Rob its an ID tool, defined to be Inside a diameter there is only one way out,if your happy that it can even try and go home throu the side of your part then thats your choice, all I say is that I did not think it should happen, but as normal it looks as if it is my fault not the software. George.
  21. Rob. All I am saying is if its an ID tool under what circumstance would you expect a rapid move straight out in X. It`s discription as an inside dia tool should give it a clue ! LOL George.
  22. There is not a situation on earth with lathe work were a ID tool would retract from deep buried in part straight out in X Only in MC World! You have to use ref points, but this is never pointed out in any of the help files. You only learn this buy experience. Wrecked tools and lots of reset time. It will kill someone one day!!!!!
  23. Bruce. It always makes me chuckle when people think just because they are spending top dollar they are getting best value. I was looking at SW for design and assemble, but, instead took up an offer on Alibre. This included, for less than $1000.00 Alibre part design sketch driven para solids, assembly ( I have built assemblies with over 500 components and still stable.)Fempro single part FEA, Motion control all axis movment, parts libarary,Bill of mats,Drawings with auto update,Sheet metal fold unfold dimple punch Etc.1 years maint had 1 version update with usefull improvments.Forum and support. Solid works its not.But you get one hell of a piece of software for your money. They also included 1st level CAM but, having MCX4 have not downloaded. For home use, as you requested cant be bad...However does make you wonder about other software prices. BTW I am not defending or promoting it just stating facts. George.
  24. I just tried new updates ( USB Human Interface Device) Still the same. I have a humane Mouse killer if you needd it! Geo
  25. Same.Brought a new Intellipoint 6 the other day Scroll only zooms out wichever way you scroll! Will work OK if you uninstall the 6.3 driver, but cant use extra buttons. So put in draw until later. This only happens in X3 MU1. Bill Gates and CNC dont seem to agree on this one!
