  2. I have a post that will post the code the way you like. It is call MPfadalsub. I am using it with version 9 sp2. I got it from inhousesolutions in Missasuga Ontario Canada.

100 parts is high volume for us. we usally only do small quanities.
  4. petro7

    O/T

Thanks for all the ideas guys, I refixtured the part and ran a profile toolpath around the part which only add 5min. the burrs are now gone. the 1/4 inch pin holes we use for aligning, I tapped them 5/16 unc. 1" deep and threaded bolts in from the bottom to pull the part down on the fixture. which then eliminates the top plate, this was ok with engineering. this makes our operator life much easier. Thanks again the more ideas the better.
  5. petro7

    O/T

Hardmill We use the six holes for alignment, we put pins down thru the holes into our fixture. a shoulderbolt would be good except the wall thickness is only .05 between the big hole and small hole. no room for the head. With in a Thou. our top plate that holds down. Kevangel Do you mean put a ring around the outside plus the inside. then drop the part down inside the two rings.I may give that a try. Just worried about chip evac. no thru spindle coolant.
  6. petro7

    O/T

The 6 holes are thru. .250 dia. the drill is a insert drill and ithas a flat bottom. we only use 1 tool to complete this part.
  7. petro7

We tried holding in soft jaws, to much cutting pressure, the piece kept moving. helix boring took 3 times longer. we are using a dremel right now while the machine is running. I am going to order a carbide reamer an run that down after the drill and see if that takes care of most of the burr. thanks for all the reply, all your ideas definitely help. just have to keep playing with different machining methods.
  8. petro7

    O/T

The drill we use is size , then we would have to refixture the part, which would not be easy to hold. we have tried alot of different machining methods and found this to be the best. we have had a few different tool reps in over the years, and this seems to be their solution. I was just hoping there was a good deburring method other than tying up a maching center.
  9. petro7

    O/T

When we remove the top plate the legs are no longer in a consistant position. so when you mill around you touch in some places and miss in others.
  10. petro7

    O/T

Thanks for all the info guy's, I can try different machining methods, we have tested alot of different cutting tools, and have found the sandvik drill to work the best. we deburr while the machine is running so no time is really lost.someone has to be there just in case. I guess I was just hoping for a magical way of deburring, because deburring sucks.
  11. petro7

    O/T

the burrs are quite large we use a carbide burr to remove the large burrs, then a stone to smooth out the part. there are 100 pcs. I have no idea what a hl -30 extrude hone is. this job is on going every couple months.
  12. petro7

    O/T

    Will do Thanks
  13. petro7

    O/T

the piece is 5 inch o.d 4.inch id 1.7 high. we hold it with a top plate, so we can not mill around the edges. by the time all the counterbore are done the upright legs have moved, so when you mill round them you touch in some places and miss the others.
  14. petro7

I sent the picture to hardmill he said he can post it.
  15. petro7

    O/T

I do have a picture how do I attach it to my message? The picture I have is already deburred.but by Tuesday I will have some undeburred.

Not m/c related although I used mastercam to make the burrs. We are looking for a tumbler to deburrs 316ss bearing cages we machine. the burrs are fairly large and take about 1 hr per part to deburr, I am not familar with tumbler so I don't know if this is feasable. there is no way to deburrs with a machining process. right now we have time to deburr between parts , but it is very teadious. any info will be appreciated.
  17. Do you have a forth axis? you will have to go in to the fixture offset and set A to zero or use a different E offset.
  18. I was thinking circle mill, that is where my problem was, not contour.
  19. Check your entry exit sweep I have had the same problem this fixed mine.

Has anyone compared the Kyocera mec series cutters against the Sandvik 390 series. We use all sandvik here. Just want to see if there is something better. thanks
  21. thanks for the replies. I am using a belkin model f5u409. on mt laptop it say this device is working correctly, but when I hook it to the machines it says cannot communicate.I also bought another model same result. I will keep trying.
  22. Thanks Jeff once you got me there it looked familar I already shut that off and tried it earlier this week. I just didn,t look at the name of it.
  23. I bought two different usb to serial adaters, no luck with either one to communiate with my machines from my laptop. I did a search on this forum and it seems to be a problem. Jimmy Wakeford. said to shut off FiFo in windows xp, but I don,t know what that is. any help would be apprieciated.
  24. this is on a vertical machining center. using a 1" ball nose cutter. Terry where do you go to trim the tool paths?
  25. Is there a way to tell mc9 that I am tyring to put a slot in a round part on the arc. I have it done now but waste alot of time cutting air. any help would be appreicated. hopefully my explanation is not to confusing. thanks
