  1. Good morning, when I post my programs it posts the G81 in long format. Is there a way to change a setting in X to get it to output canned cycle?? I'm using the MPLFAN lathe, updated for X. In V9 it would output a canned cycle. Thanks for the help. Thanks, Mike W.
  2. Thanks Don, I e-mailed them all the info earlier and checked out the website. The just sent me all the info I'll need to order a complete set up to do the job. the total price for all the components came to $953.25. Mike
  3. Has anyone used those Slater rotary braches. How do they work? what about pricing?? I was thinking about tring it for 100 parts I'll be doing. 316 stainless 1/4 broach size (to fit 1/4 allen) 1/4" deep max Thanks, Mike W.
  4. there is a company called Onsrud that makes tools for that kind of application. I have never used them, check MSC page 525
  5. Hey Bryon, you should have it. d00d thanks for the offer but its a 10 file
  6. Hello, I am trying to cut a o-ring groove on the O.D. of a 1.625 dia. stock. I seem to be generating a 5 axis toolpath instead of a 4ax. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong when it comes to the roll die or axis substitution. Do they both work together or should I use just one or the other?? Ive tried both with no luck. This is my first 4ax part. If someone can look at this file and give me some pointers I'll have to e-mail it to you. Thanks for the help, Mike
  7. the generic post mpfan should work just fine for you. also check the post section of the emastercam website.
  8. I,m trying to figure out how to change the size of the auto snap/cursor size. Right now it seems a little small, I'd like to make it bigger. For example the square box that pops up to show a line endpoint, can that be made bigger? I looked everywhere in the configuration settings and did not see it anywhere. Thanks, Mike
  9. Good morning, can anyone give me the name of a good chrome plater that can do triple chrome plating. Thanks, Mike Ward
  10. Hey Everyone, I am trying to make a mold. It is a simple lathe part and the material is delrin. I will be injecting urethane to make the actual part (scuba regulator diaphpram). I just upgraded to level 3 W/ solids, this is the first time using Mcam solids. I am trying to create a cyllider to do a boolean operation to get my cavity and male side. If anyone would like to take a look and give me some pointers it would be greatly appreciated. I'll have to e-amil the file to you because of FTP issues. Thanks again Mike Ward
  11. Hello everyone, just wondering what the difference, if any for the 4th axis stuff from level 2 to 3 mill. Or is it another separate add on? Thanks, MIke
  12. Hey Marvin, try a Xform-Translate-Between points select point on geometry you want to be your zero or base point and select origin or type in 0,0 or wherever you want to move it to. That will move the point you picked to the location you specify
  13. Hi Randall, I have a zd 7000 I purchased a few months ago. It has a NVIDA 5700 and it runs perfect with Mcam. I also have Autocad 06 and INventor. I havent had a lick of trouble until I loaded my Inventor 10. Inventor 9 ran great, but 10 will not run at all. This is what the tech told me, one of the issues is H.P. has some of thier own mods to the graphics card and the latest updates from NVIDA won't download to the laptop. Not sure about ATI, When the tech from my dealer contacts me with a solution I'll let you know what he says.
  14. I ended up getting it, by doing pretty much what you said I did have the pitch I just left it out above. I was getting messed up in the final x dia. I think Mastercam does it 2 ways, you can get it from the big or small end of the taper Thanks for the help MIke
  15. Hi, I'm trying to cut 1/4-18 npt on a HAAS lathe. This is the first time doing so, everything seems ok in mastercam. No matter what I do, it cuts way to deep, and way to many passes, 29 to be exact. Could it be the machine settings? this is what i'm getting G76 X.433 Z-.401 I-.0146 K .0444 D.0063 30 Thanks, MIke
  16. I thought about a waterjet, the tolerance is +or-0.001. will the waterjet leave a rougher finish? The finish needs to be as clean and consistent as possible.what about being able to pick up on dead nuts center? Thanks, Mike
  17. I'm about to start prototyping a part we have been wanting to make. The part has 12 very small triangle holes that I need to cut in it. they measure 0.059 at the widest top width and taper down to 0.011 at the bottom point. The OAL of the triangle is .549 the wall thickness is about 0.040 thick. The part is round with a O.D. of approx 3.250. I am planning on making the first few prototypes out of brasss 360 and possibly a few out of delrin or noryl. What type of machine would you guys suggest to cut this feature? laser, edm ??? Thanks for the input Mike W.
  18. Good Morning Everyone, Just curious as to what you guys prefer. Actually doing a lathe stock flip or creating a separate toolgroup for the 2nd op. I found on parts with many tools , things tend to get a little confusing and difficult to make changes after backplot.Afer only a (few) times I have used this command I'm leaning more to creating a 2nd toolgroup. Any tips or tricks?? I also recently purchased a HP zd7000 notebook w/ 2.0 GB, 100GB hard drive, GeForce 5700 graphics card,17" screen I have Mastercam 9,Autodesk Inventor 9, Autocad Mechanical Desktop 2005 all installed on it. This thing runs great, never even so much as a hic-up. Just a heads up if anyone is considering a notebook. This set up seems to work great for my application Have a Great Day, Mike Ward
  19. Hey Chris, I am having trouble with my e-mail I don't think the file made it to you. If not I'll keep playing and let you know my results thanks mike
  20. Hey everyone, I don't have much time at all on Mcam lathe, When I generate my rough tolpath to cut a x1.5 step z-.600 back w/ a .312 radus on 2.0" 360 brass hex stock , The rough toolpath in backplot and verify both keep overcutting on each pass on the radius with a specified insert tip of .031.The finish pass seems to be cutting fine (am using same tool). If I change the tip R. to 0 it seems to cut fine, what am I missing ?,Overlap settings? Tool Comp Type? Ive tried everything I can think of. Thanks for the help, this is an awesome site!!!
  21. Hi everyone, I'm about to buy a new computer at work. A laptop would be great. Is anyone running Mcam on one, any suggestions on model & brand. I wouldn't have a problem with it being a little slow just as long as it runs o.k. for the most part. I am currently running level 2 and will be for a while. I know I'll have to beef up the memory and get a good graphics card? any and all suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Mike
  22. Hi everyone, Somehow when I created my geometry I ended up with the center of the part around x-26.0 and y-20.0 Does anyone know how to move the center of the part back to 0,0
