  1. What about a local tool rep in your area, sometimes you might get a guy that knows his stuff and can help avoid trial and error on tooling. mike
  2. O.k. that explains it, I just uninstalled my previous version of autocad. I'll just draw it in Mcam real quick.
  3. Actually, I did the drawing a few minutes ago. Iv'e tried it many times and it still won't work. I tried saving it as an older acad file also. It must have to do with the mr2 install, because it worked fine the other day. I'll keep messing with it.
  4. Hey guys, I'm trying to open a autocad 07 file. It doesn't seem to be coming in, if it is I can't find it. I did a fit screen and panned around. I just updated to mr2 and never had a problem before. I thought there was a thread the other day but I can't find it. Thanks
  5. It all depends on what you are doing, the big factor between the 2 is price. Pro-E is much more powerful with many options. Solidworks in my opinion would be a better choice for what most shops need. The learning curve with pro-e is longer compared to sw. SW would be my choice my 2centz mike
  6. Hi Tim, I noticed that and tried both 2/3d time and time again. I just updated to mr2 and it worked perfect the first time. thanks everyone
  7. I am trying to move the part to 0,0, For lathe 2nd op I usually flip and move the part and give it a separate 2nd op file name instead of doing a stock flip in the operations. Now I can't get it to 0, when I select all and do a move from point to point it only moves in the x direction I need it to move in x and z. What I need to do is take the time and learn to use the WCS properly instead of using translate. thanks for the help
  8. Hey guys, a few questions first, how do I get the axis lines to display on the screen second, I was going to update to mr2 and when I use the update utility it does not offer mr2, my maintenance is current. third, I am trying to use xform translate from and to with no luck. no matter what I do the part will only move in the X + or - direction, I thought I've used it many times with no problem thanks for the help
  9. Hey guys, whenever my screensaver comes up while in Mcam when I reactivate it says the hasp has come disconnected and I have to close and reopen. Would you guys know if this is a Mcam setting or a computer setting?? Thanks, mike
  10. yes that is correct as far as I know, obviously the main thing is to make sure the feed is correct, I usually double check feeds when I post or at the machine just to make sure they stuck
  11. I already saved the new file over it. Also when I'd try to close it I got a message that there was a active command, there was not, then I'd have to do a ctr=alt=del it's working o.k. now thanks
  12. I think I got it, started over with a new file a few times and it seems to be working
  13. Hey guys, I have a simple part I have ran before and it woked fine. I needed to change cutter size and when I do I says incorrect parameter and locks up. i redrew the file, a simple polygon 8 sided .250 deep. Now whenever I change DOC, multipass, lead in/out it does not show a dirty toolpath. When I try to verify it then says its dirty and doesn't seem to be changing anything?? still using MR1
  14. I've never messed with the upper or lower turret on theTL-1. Always verify with tools on top and it works and posts fine, never had a problem. Personal preference and depends on the part I guess
  15. check your lead in-out settings tab mike
  16. I know on the newer machines you can get a 200 hr free trial on the add on options, you just call your dealer and they give you a code.

  19. I can't get mt threadmill path to cut to the major dia 3/4-16. If I select entities and arc which is my major it will mill at 0,0 and won't go out to .750 and the box for major is shaded. If I select 0,0 for the point it still won't let me enter the major dia. If I select the arc .750 dia then you don't need to enter the dia? right what am I missing? (my tool is defined properly) can someone list step by step for me the sequence to select the point or geo. Thanks
  20. I would check into accupro also, they have a good selection for al work. MSC carries them
  21. If you are using X I know there is a c axis sample file that does some c axis stuff
  22. Hey Tim, I am using CSS for everything. I'll do some playing to get it all dialed in. Thanks for the help. Time to go home Mike
