  1. Hey Greg if ya can send the examples my way if you can. Its kind of funny that this came up. I run our wire machine no comp puter but comp on machine because of the way our machine uses its wire paremters and offsets, with no arc in or out. Thanks
  2. There is also some seats in the columbus, ohio area as well. Our distributor is in findley and every time i have been in a class there has been atleast 10 people or more so there coming from somewhere.
  3. Now disgusted with one of my favorite former fighters "tyson" it truly shows he has no care to fight at the level he once was, his only care is to make money until he tarnishes his name and the boxing sport. At one time people who hated him would pay to watch him just to see the outcome, if he keeps this up they will soon have to pay us to watch! His former trainer who made him great is probably rolling over in his grave wondering what the hell happened. Well maybe in another couple years another rising star will emerge, and it is not lewis!
  4. Tyson 3rd ko! I hate him outside the ring but inside he's awesome! Too bad we couldnt have the Tyson of the early 90's back. It would be no contest then! GO TYSON my .02
  5. We have them export in iges and for the most part the designers remember to export in wireframe and surfaces, but when they forget it sometimes takes an act of god for them to go back and re-export the file. We use to use the pro converter but it got to be to the point that we were up dating pro and the converter was a couple months behind so we ended up just switching back to iges. Thanks Kev i did not know i could do that, i will have to try that. Thanks for the fast response folks!
  6. I would have to agree with you all. I have only been on mastercam for about two years now, when we 1st got it i thought i was in way over my head but after a couple months i started to grasp the systyem then about a year after the fact i stumbled on to this site. For what questions i do have i will say there is some very smart and curtious users in this forum and with there help it does make my life easier. Thank you to all
  7. Hey folks i hope i can get an answer to this? We deal with pro-e files from our designers and sometimes they forget to output wireframe with the surfaces, when this happens i will go to create/curve/all edges/all surfaces, and it gives me the wire frame. The problem is it also gives splines underneath the lines and arcs, and this is with simple box style geometry. When i can i just delete all splines but on more complicated parts i cant do this because the geometry is actually a spline. I am working with ver8. Any help from all you masters would greatly be appreciated. Thanks, Chad
  8. N FRANCO "You are the Man"! You were right i unchecked that and things work fine, in older versions in mastercam i think it would come up with constant errors saying cutter comp not succesful so in that case i new to uncheck it but that was long ago, so i guess i can be called the dork of day for thinking it was a software issue. I would like to thank Cadcam for trying to help me out on this i appreciate the help folks! Thanks, Chad
  9. I'm open to suggestions! What are you rerferring to as highspeed? We are T1 here if that is what you are asking? Thanks, Chad
  10. I saw what you had done with stock defined, I have tried this and also used job set-up to define the material but it will not run some operations. I know the older disc we have works so i think i am going to dump 8.1.1 and go back to 8.1 and just download the up dates from this site. The odd thing is that it does it my computer and on another one that i had just installed it on. Our other computers here that still have 8.1 on them go through the verify with no problems. Oh well, I do appreciate the help, Thanks, Chad
  11. I am 99.99999 % sure it is not a value error in the set up of the verify, i think it is more of a software/computer issue. I am curious to see if anyone else had run into this.
  12. I un-installed 8.1 and installed 8.1.1 , also i put it on a new employees computer and it is doing the same thing. I had called the reseller but he has not got back with me on the matter. Thanks
  13. I am running ver8.1.1 and i am having problems with the verification on all the contouring, pocketing, and surfacing, ect. It will show drilling alright, but otherwise it might show constant gouging of a part or it will show nothing at all. I never had this problem until out reseller gave us the latest update disc, it was fine on 8.1, I know the tool path is correct because of using backplot. Any ideas would greatly be appreciated. Thanks, Chad Fisher
  14. http://web.battelle.org/jobs/ReqDescr.asp?...778&company=BCO Is there anyone around columbus ohio that needs a job, Click on the link above to see if you might be interested. Thanks, Chad Fisher
  15. Hello, we just got in a new V-F6 50 taper w/ the side mount tool changer, and tool change clearence in some set-ups is a problem. I tried to use the tool change position in mastercam but it didnt work, it seems that our post spits out a g28 that homes the machine. Does anyone have a post that does not use the a axis and that maybe uses a g53 to give a user defined home position? If ya do please e-mail! Thanks
  16. Alright before you all beat me up, i know i spelled mastercam wrong in the subject title, so i guess its alright to call me an idiot for a day!
  17. I apologize for the off the wall subject title, but i am sitting here reading through the december issue of modern machine magazine and on pg104 in the mms bulletin board it said that surfcam is going to be donating a version of its two axis manufacturing software for FREE! Now i am not trying to advertise for them but if i was a new shop on a budget i might look toward there package figuring if i like it i might invest in it later down the road. I guess what i am thinking here is maybe that is a good idea to promote your product and maybe mastercam should do something in the same matter. Personally i preferr mastercam and probably always will after using some of the brand -x software. But i just hope that CNC Software is still around in the future and making great software for us to use!
  18. We have all of our computers running 2000 professional series and the problem that i have came across on one of our workstations is that if a mcam8 file has already been proved out by one of the users and another users comes along (using a different log on) and adds maybe an additional operation it will not post that opperation, but instead post the original program. These users have the power user privledges only. I took a file to test it on my work station which i have admin on and i had no problems getting the additional operations posted? Any ideas folks?
  19. I would have to agree w/ gstephens on haas mills. After working in some different local job shops it seems everyone is starting to lean to the haas's We have 3 of the regular haas mini mills, there great except that they lack in horsepower. So i would recomend that you get atleast one of the larger haas's with a gearhead "vf-2" or so. That way you will be able to do roughing techniques with the various inserted carbide tooling for steel. As for the lathes it seems that the okuma's and hardinge lathes are pretty popular. The programming for all of these machines are ALMOST similar, meaning that they use basic g codes to run them. Plus i would have to say in thirty years i think these manufactures will still be around to service these machines! I hoped this helped and good luck..............Thanks, Chad fisher
  20. Hey thanks guys the transform operation worked
  21. Im trying to use one program to do two or more parts at a time, i want to use my fixture offsets "E1,E2,E3,and so on" How do i go about this????
  22. Thanks for the responces! It seems as you all agree to seat time! About Three years ago when i came to this company www.battelle.org the machine shop here only had one cad/cam package and that was pro/e. To what i seen of it, it was way to complicated to deal with, and there was no one to teach it to us. So after some management changes i got picked to search for a cam system that was easyily learnable but complex enough for the tougher jobs. I had started with gibbs since i used to use it at previous job but it had fell short on what we needed for this place. So we agreed to go with mastercam, and im glad we did, though starting out initially i was pulling my hair out wandering what i gotten myself into. "some people expect you to run before you can walk" But after some classes it has come easier to do, so hopefully with you guys and alot more xxxx time i can learn some more. Thanks again
  23. Alright people my subject title might be a little decieving, but hope you can answer some of my questions. I have been using mastercam for almost two years now "mill and wire" we do mainly small prototype work with not a whole lot of surfacing ever involved. After being in this forum for about two months and reading some of the responses in this forum i realize there is a lot of very smart people in here, "my hat goes off to you"! What couses of related study have helped some of you? I am more of a machinist than a programmer but i would like to try to better myself why i am still young and if it would require some college courses i would like to do so, but what to take i do not know. I have been to our mastercam dealer "Fastech" for there classes but if you do not use what they teach you, you tend to lose it, especially in the surfacing part for me. It would almost be nice to be in a month long course where they pound it in your head then test you to make sure you know it! Any ideas would greatly be appreaciated. Thanks!
  24. Hello Chris! We happen to have 3 of the haas mini mills and there great so far. I seen that haas has them in a stripped down version for twenty thousand. Check out www.haasautomation.com plus i would imagine to say that this company will still be around thirty years from now, so if you would need replacement parts. They should be there.
