  1. In one of our facilities we a sony 2 axis cnc control. "nu 20-20/30" is there such a post for this because i didnt see any on the mcam disc. And before anyone gets there panties in bunch i am only asking for info on the post. Thanks in advance if any of you know anything about it................Chad
  2. I work in columbus and i can say that there is not a lot here as fas as manufacturing goes. There is a few mom and pop shops but alot of places have layed off and or are still very slow. The place i work is great but it is hard to get into and a person must run a machine as well as do there own programming. Our resller is fastech and they are about two hours from us. Maybe in some dayton, cinci or clevelend there might be something. Good luck on your search.
  3. The place i am at is really cool to work at. Its probably the most layed back place i have ever seen and they also offer a retirement along with the 401k. I started here when i was 22, my goal is 30 years then i am getting the hell out at 52! There is to many fish to be caught and places to see. I am in central ohio now and my goal is to move to alpena michigan by lake huron. The only thing that really sucks is there is 25 more years to go!
  4. I really enjoy the fords and making parts in my spare time also trying to most of my machine work to engine. Its fun for me. If i do this right below should be my fairlane and also a pic of some shaft rockers i made for the mustang lx i am building now.
  5. Our company buys all dell's on a two lease program. The last computer i had a Nvidia Geforce 256 graphics card and it worked really well with mastercam. These new computers "4 of them" all have these Radeon VE cards, and they suck! I have turned the acceleration down on all of them and mc still crashes just opening it sometimes. I am not the greatest with termonolgy nor computers them selves but i know enough that we didnt have these problems with our other cards. Our department will replace these if found to be the problem so is it safe to ask for a current Nvidia card? Also anything you all might respond with i plan to show to the powers that be so we can correct this. Thanks in advance, Chad
  6. How do you shut this program off so it will not come on every time I bring the opps manager? Thanks in advance.............Chad
  7. When i recieved 9.1 I had waited to to istall it till my new computer came in, now installed I am going to go back to wire 9 because I am having trouble grasping this new way. Maybe in time I will get used to it, but as of now I dont have the time to play with it.
  8. Thanks Alan, I appreciate your time to look over this. Cya, Chad
  9. Hey guys need some help on this one? This material is titanium 6al4v and i need to rough these cone shape surfaces out. I am wondering what is the best method. I only have 1/2 roughing end mills in ball and flat available. The file i posted here ftp://mastercam:[email protected]/Ma...orum/MC9_files/ File name is "cfish.mc9" Any help would greatly be appreciated! Also, thanks cadcam for the use of your site.
  10. A while back ago someone asked about different people logging onto windows 2000 pro using mcam and having problems with post not found. One of you gentlemen stated that you could copy paste something for each user that would enable them to pull up there own cfg file when logging on with different users. I tried the search function but could not locate it. Please help and thanks in advance...........................Chad
  11. Just a small gap in the geometry, took a while to find it but once i did things worked fine. Thanks!
  12. Parasolid® Kernel Interface Error PK error code 547- non manifold body or boundry What the heck does that mean? Thanks in advance!
  13. Honestly...........as a side job i hooked up with a guy out in california to help design/ build some carb spacers/ and some other billet type things. Last week just finished up making my own shaft rockers for small ford application. Otherwise for work, i cant tell ya ........i'd have to kill ya!
  14. I run a aq325 w/ ln1w. When i run in 4 axis i have to create my own lead in and out that are not tapered. What i will do is create 2 lines that are perpindicular to each of about .05 in length. The control wants a couple of staight line dummy moves before and after taper to activate and cancel. I know what your going through because i have already done it. If you want email me and i can send a example or maybe send your part to me and i can send it back.
  15. You guys are too cool..................................THANKS!
  16. How could i go about this? I have a part designed up on mcam and i want to print it by going File/Next Menu/ Hardcopy. The only catch is i would like to email it to a client instead of print to our default printer. The client doesnt have a cad system of any sort so this would enable them to see the size and shape of part. Any of you guru's have any ideas? Thanks in advance......................Chad
  17. actually chad i think u must of brough t the machine we gave back, almost the same problems as us. quote: No it was new.................a new piece of junk! It makes you wonder howa company can stay in bussiness like that after seeing that we were not the only ones with so many problems. All, and i had forgot to mention, that they bragged the hell out of the control we got, they were able to install any control on these machines but lack the no how to set them up. Since i understood dynapaths already i had to go and setup the control because they lacked to set-up some of the features the control had, i.e mdi.
  18. Yes i do have something bad to say them about them and i apologize for knocking them. We have a 35x16 with the dynapath50 control the overall build of the machine isnt that great. Ours is a little over 2yrs old and see's only light duty work for we only do r-d work for one eight hour shift a day, five days a week. 1st the fingers that hold the tools in the carosel are constantly breaking, 2nd after couple months the geared head rattles, had there rep come from california and replace gears, still rattles, sounds like gears are raking somewhat. While rep was out here he would talk on phone in spanish in front of us "we didnt like that at all. But in the end rep said that its ok, they just sound like that When your doing finishing passes you can see the vibration in the cut from what we believe is coming from gears raking or vibration from the head. 3rd after one year i had to replace y axis trust bearing. 4th a couple months ago the glass scale in x axis went out. 5th keys from key board have been coming off since new and they refused to fix saying that it was not there problem. 6th design of machine gaurds for enclosed machine are flawed, ours leaks coolant all over the floor. ie access doors, base of machine. 7th encoders for y axis are open to chips that accumlate in bottom of machine and often find there way into slide rails of encoder, very annoying. We do try to keep machines cleaned out. The company that sold us the machine has now dropped them from there line up for lack of support. I will say that we are in ohio and them being based in california might have a better following there with tech support than what we had recieved here. We can not wait to get rid of that machine but we are stuck with it for a while. Since then we have bought all Haas's of different sizes and we have been pleased with these machines and there support. I am not saying haas is the only way to go but there is plenty of better built machines than the lagun especially for the money.
  19. 8-1-75..................1975 must of been a good year for future programmers/machinist. I think the count is up to 5 of us.
  20. I appreciate all the opinions i have recieved on this subject. It's funny because two yrs back we would almost take anyone to get them hired in, now that the markets have fallen we have been seeing a rise in un employed skilled trades. I do take in to consideration alot of what Jack said. I am stepping down from running the mills and concentrating on edm wire and sinker, it got to be to much to do running all three when the mill is 70 yards down on other side of shop. I just want to see a smooth transition, for the other people we have here they do not want to run my mill because of the work that gets placed on it. So i wouldnt mind seeing someone who is equivelent or even better than i am to take over. I just want to make sure the person is qaulified, i dont mind a little ignorance but stupidity i hate. Thanks again folks, Chad
  21. Thanks James, i liked your idea. I have got to scrounge up some ideas by next week. What i really enjoy is busting peoples balls when they can say they can walk the walk but end up with no xxxx to prove it. Thanks guys!
