  1. Someone help me set this guy staight about mcam maintainance on this other forum, i do not have the best lingo. click here
  2. POS it is, when they unloaded it last year, the reseller came in and did a ball bar test. Mind you that this thing is "new" and it only could cut a circle with .008 I feel for our guys that have to hold a tolerence on it. What was really funny is our older senior tech who was the one that opted to purchase it said it would be better than our haas's we have.
  3. See thats the problem this area is secured, info may go in but it sure doesnt go out of the area. Just to get these guys to update to version 9.2 takes an act of god. So i am just playing middle man for our technician's. As far as i know these are just a "prototrac" knockoff. There is two of them, one is three axis, other is two axis. I will try to contact our reseller, i was just trying to find out if anyone has experience with control. Thanks guys.
  4. I have yet to contact out dealer on this but has anyone heard of a Sony Nu20-20/30 control. I am looking for a post, our 9.2 disc didnt have anything on it about this control. Since this machine is in a secured area at our location and i dont have access i have no idea what will work. Anyone have a clue? Thanks........Chad
  5. Budweiser had the best ones out there hit there site to view them www.budweiser.com
  6. Have you took a look at the mpwsd350 post that comes w/ mcam? I use this post for our LN1W control for our sodick
  7. Never redone them but as cheap as they are now to get aftermarket cut to any custon lenght I would opt to go that route and not take a chance. Mark Williams, Strange, Moser, and Superior all do this and prices have become quite competitive.
  8. I am installing SP2 w/ maint on win2000 and on two different machines i have gotten this error when opening the SCREEN/CONFIG page Warning 436 [ configuration text ] not found the warning number will pop up till #439 but warning info is still the same. Any idea's on this..........I am lost! Thanks in advance
  9. Not trying to take side's but i can agree with both sides, sometimes things can be a little harsh. I can understand one person getting the point across but then there is a following of band wagon jumpers there after. Some people dont relize a posts means alot more to others. I am not wanting to start no flame war I respect everyones right to there own opinion. I would like to see a permanent post up top related to "asking for posts" because this happens about once a week. These people that do this I think for the most part honest and have good intentions but just didnt take the time to read the FAQ section. Be easy on me folks this is just an opinion.
  10. Gilsu Relax you will get it, theres a big learning curve if you have no experience in this type of machining. I remember a few years back we bought one and i opted to run it, no one else here had experience with one, for the most part i had to throw out my basic machining experience i had to learn this. After a couple months i was feeling quite comfortable with thie style of machining and now i wouldnt trade for anything. Like otheres have requested tell us your make of machine and control style someone here will certainly be able to help. This place is full of curtious and experienced people.
  11. They are pretty nice for what they are. We have 3 here "mini mills" we typically run 4" vices on them to help with Z height, they are limited. If your work consists of light milling, small parts and secondary opps they great for that. In the 3+ years we have had them the only problem was with one of them having a limit switch go out. Haas's service is quick and dependable.
  12. Duh..........Ding Ding, i guess if you would said hole burner i would of got is as a edm drill We are step drilling with a cobalt reg lenght to 1" then going in with the longer drill. Pecking @.01 rpm at around 700 to 1000 and feed of .5 anything more and drill walks worse. Funny thing is when i first started these a while ago, boss game me this material and I thought to myself piece of plastic huh! No problem Ill run it at 1500 or so and 5ipm. WRONG! Banana's are more strait than that of the hole i got. Live and learn i guess.
  13. Rekd Our problem isnt in hole size it is the drill walking off. We have found that if we gring the drill tip in a "bradpoint tip" it stays somewhat strait. What fits in these holes is a electric .120 dia. heater rod. The hole is .050 from an edge, if it walks in theres no problem it is when it walks out when we have a major problem. 135 and 118 tip angles walk severely. The vespel isnt as bad as the torlon. All said done these parts have around 10k in work and material when there delivered. I am dumb but whats a hole popper
  14. We are faced with drilling 1/8 dia. holes 5" deep in a plastic/polymer called Torlon and another that is called Vesbel and these are extremely expensive. The problem is walking of the drill, we have to reduce the shanks because the Vesbel will shrink around the drill. I am wondering about how a high pressure thru the tool coolant system might work in drilling these. Then finding a company to make the tools for us. We have tried some differnt tip configurations and the best we can muster is a rpm of 700 to 1000 and a feed of .5 or less with .01 pecks. Slow i know but we are having only about 70% success with this. Any experience on this would greatly be appreaciated..........Thanks
  15. Here i program op by op for the vmc, but i also run a wire edm. Usually i can keep both going with doing the programming in between set-ups using my run time. Like someone else stated, on some parts you never know how there gonna work till you get almost to the end. I like it this way because it keeps your mind thinking!
  16. Is there a reason you have to use a reamer? The tap drill w/o reamer is 7/16, in the past i have even went up to .453 in stainless to ease stress on tap.
  17. No watches here, we have 3 minis 2 vf2s and 1 vf6. acourse these were bought with in the last 4 years.
  18. Jamman Ever heard of Battelle? We are located between 5th and King near Olentangy river road close to OSU. I drive here from close to Lancaster. What about yourself?
  19. So you have met "The Great Crookenstein" Ha Ha. The less literate here dealed with him some years ago, needless to say our company bought TWO junk machining centers but only recieved one. The other went to our FORMER boss's shop. I have seen him pull off some shady deals! Sorry to highjack your thread..............Chad
  20. Please tell me you are not dealing with Paul Jr from Industrial Assetts?
  21. When importing opps/tools from another file is there a way to stop mcam from re-numbering the tools? Thanks in advance
  22. Hi Dan, cant help with the deburring but would really be interested in set of cylinder heads though. Just kidding
  23. Well the quality of the pics stink but as you can tell I like ford cars. I have been known to throw many of wrenches and have many of bleeding knuckles but i find relaxion in working on them.
