Importing Additional Geometry

Recommended Posts

Is it posible to import additinal geometry into an existing part, (cut/copy paste). Reason I ask is that I have designed the part in Rhino, imported it to MC, run tool paths etc but have now added some addtional geometry in Rhino that I would like to add into the MC part. I can easily export it out of Rhino but can't seem to bring it into MC and add to the file already open. I don't want to start from scratch again because I would have to redo all the toolpaths.

Hi xform,

To bring in additional geometry you will need to

File,Converters,Next Menu,Next Menu, Rhino.

Now leave MC open with your new geo and go to

File,Merge and grab your original file with toolpaths and geo. You might want to follow Rons advice and make sure you have separate levels for your geo.

Is it possible to have multiple drawings open at one time, like in AutoCad, and to copy and paste from one of those drawings to another.

Have you tried it?

Yes, it is but you can only copy geometry at this time.

Use the edit menu you at the top to use copy & paste

Not exactly like Autocad, but similar. In MC, you'll have to open another session for each part. In Autocad, one session can have multiple parts open within it. After that, follow John's advice.
