Big program reset

Recommended Posts

I have a very big program for milling titanium. Seems like it would not be possible to complete in one day. How do I make three parts of that?

the question is very vague but imagine removing materials from a part. It is taking bout 6 hours something. Basically, my machinist want to be able to stop at some point and re-start at the same poisiton which is tough for me to put stop in the middle of the program. Any ideas or suggestions?

one idea was to mill a bit, create stock model. mill a bit again. Again create stock model and go on.

Which toolpath are you using?  Mine was from an Opti.

Changing the conversation a bit:

@Metals and materials

Just out of curiosity, how big is the part, and how much Ti are you removing? What tool(s) are you using for your roughing?  I certainly hope it's not that 1/2" endmill shown above? :)

@Aaron Eberhard

Hi Aaron,

I have a part with a bit of complexity to it (for me).  I need to generate finish passes on some pockets, but one wall is negative, and is the tallest wall of it.

Have tried different Multiaxis paths, without success.  Tried some vectors, but that's new to me, so it takes quite a while to adjust them, but still getting collisions.

I see you have a very wide and advance knowledge on how to pick the more adequate toolpath and adjust the right parameters in it, by reading some of you posts.

Anyways I can send you the file, so you can assist me with this 4 pockets?
