Plunge Milling Cutter

We run a Mitsubishi AQX 1" end mill with H-TI polished inserts. Works well, and takes a beating. Likes to helix a bit more than straight plunge. I've also got a 2.5" Iscar plunge mill, holds three inserts, and runs very smooth. That depth may be an issue for that cutter, it's looks like a mini facemill.

I'm with Hardmill on this one, Sandvik makes some great plunge milling cutters. We use them a lot with no problems. We also have some Kennametal plunge miling cutter and they work good. The Kennametal ones can give you a very long range in Z relative to the cutter diameter.

Hope that helps,

Have a nice day,
