Hi all,

I have been managing the CNC area for a while now. Now upper management threw the CNC EDM in my department now and I have to start using System 3R fixtures for everything.

I am just wondering what are the Pro's and Con's in using the 3R automation? I would like to here some success stories and not so successful stories.

Thanks in advance for all you input!!

I used the 3R system before for electrodes, its great.

We cut the electrode on its 3R system on the machine then straight into the EDM.

We used copper electrodes.

We had a 3R system permantly set on the NC machine set as G59 so any Electrode program was made around that so you only had to set the different Z values.

We use Erowa instead of 3R .

A bit expensive but supergood ,simple and accurate .

It is indexable and I made a lot of special holders that enlarge a lot it`s versatility .

The electrodes from mill ,lathe or wireedm go

to the edm with no need to additional setup .

Great thing for speeding up production
