V9 - Macm_for_95.exe???????

I can't find the "mcam_for_95.exe" file on the V9 (old) disk.

(I have win95 on a newer computer system with enough mem and disk space - 2003)

I am trying to run/load Demo32.exe from the V9 disk

when I put in the V9 (not 9.1) CD I get a message that I have to run "mcam_for_95.exe" it says that windows 95 doesn't allow multiple installs or something like that and I need to run the, mcam_for_95.exe, program. I looked on the CD with explorer, and could only find a "pif" file with that name. do any of you have that file on your V9 disk or know how to get it to install?

I/we are not on a maintenance contract with Mcam

My buddy just got a Dell 2.8 Ghz, 80 GB HD, 512 RAM, CD-ROM/RW & 17" flat panel running WinXP Home for about $550. Once again...why bother?

Welcome to the board ,Squasher !

We/I humbly think that you can not run Mastercam from cd disk ,you must install it and Mastercam not allows multiple installs cause it not allows them!!

(be a bit patient and do not click too many times )

Install it on your comp.and it will work .

BTW I am perverted person (I use dos6.2.2 from time to time ,i even have somewhere win3.1.1 disks ,but who nowadays run win95 ?)

If your puter pentiums 100 32 ram install win 98

if it is pentium 3-800 64 ram win 2000 and be happy .

Never try to install win ME .

BTw win95/Mastercam demo is a kosher combination (checked )

I was traying to install it to the hard disk when that message came up on the main screen after I pressed the "install mastercam" button.

to make a short story long.

A friend has a business that large companies hire to intall or remove office equipment. A large computer company in San Jose was downsizing (or going belly up??) and told him they want all the office equipment taken away, but they didn't want to pay to have it removed. they said he could have everyting there and sell it to make the money. He got cubical deviders, desks, chairs, and a bunch of computers for use as clients(??). these computers had no operating system or any software loaded. they have CD, 20gig hard drive, some kind of LAN or ethernet conection in back, a keyboard, mouse and 17inch monitor, thats all. they were brand new (old models) in a box and I got it for $50. I cant install windows XP becasue it only works for 30 days if you do not register it. and I already have XP registered on the computer it came with. I didn't want to spend another $100+ on an operating system, so I installed an old windows 95 version I had laying around.

I have been looking on Ebay for an old copy of 98 or 2000, but they seem to go for around $50+.

thanks

You can trust my words .

Do not listen what others say ..... - and do not listen to my words .

Just keep on going !

This freaks are fooling you .

Who needs Windows 2000/Xp when win 95 looks the

same .

And no difference at all .

And 50$usd for win 98 is a helluva lot of money !

So you can continue to speak with yourself like a wise man in the desert .

If you want to install it on Win95 I state that I succesfuly installed it on pentiumS100 16 mb Ram with Trident 1mb videocard and even managed to build rectangle !

If you want normal working install it on Win98 ,even better on NT4 sp6 or Win2000pro or XP

I would recommend 2000 pro

Bit I worked with Mastercam 9 on win98 SE pentium 3 -400 riva2-32 for a good bit of time .

You make your decisions

Appendix

How to install it on win95

Make on hard drive directory c:mcinst

Copy aLL FILES AND FOLDERS FROM YOUR cD OVER THERE .

In windows lower bar click on start->run and type

command

now type

setup /?

Look for the setup options

if you don`t have any appropriate specific for win85 options type

setup

and proceed with a setup

at the end of the shell session type exit

if installation successful delete mcinst folder

HTH

WTHH

Teh append c:mcinst;e:

Why in the hell would you make comments like this.

We want to make it run not just get by.

I know you must think I am stupid when comes to computers.

I suggest win98se as the lowest to make it some what stable.

this again is like buying a Lexus and taking out the motor and putting a old 60's VW engin becuase it is cheaper.

Folks this software is Cad-Cam not my sone Toddler game.

Telling him never mind us ,F**king stupid and I am fumming right now. firebounce.gifcurse.gif

But the bottom line is you will do what you do know matter what we say.

If one stakes their business on Mastercam, one should invest in the proper equipment to run the software properly. If Mastercam is not fundamental to the success of one's business, then it may be acceptable for one to skimp on one's equipment.

As an addendum...

I hope that the Windows 95 computer cannot access the Internet. Windows 95 is no longer supported by Microsoft and thus, is not privy to recent security updates and patches from Windows Update. I should add, that any security holes that exist in the DirectX component are remedied in DirectX 9.0c and that Windows 95 cannot use anything higher than DirectX 8.1. This is an example of what lack of support can do.

I hope that, should there be, mission-critical files on the Windows 95 computer, a good backup system is in place. I wouldn't put any trust in FAT16 (or FAT32 if you have the final version of Windows 95).

Finally, I hope that all of your hardware is running well, as very few hardware manufacturers release Windows 95 drivers anymore.
