OT/ Sales Rep Commission?

I have an engineering student that is working for me part time. He has introduced me to a couple of potential customers. The value of the 3-4 jobs that I am quoting now range between $200-$2100. I do not know if the jobs will repeat or how much additional work that might be available. I am trying to calculate what a fair commission would be to pay him for the extra effort he has put in finding these customers.

 

Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.

What is the profit margin on the jobs? Unless the jobs repeat themselves, you probably can't give him a whole lot. If they are going to repeat, I would tend to give him 10% of the first time order.

i worked for a company that offered me 3% for a lead (ie i did no sales) that produced work,i got that for all repeat business.

if i did all the sales work i would get 10% on all repeat work.

Unless you hired him as a salesman, which I assumed you didn't by your question, his leads need no commission.

 

But, you need to do something. Here are a few suggestions, give him a flat fee, give him two passes to a theme park, give him gift ceriticates, etc.

 

I think by showing your appreciation this way, does not put him in the position of "thinking" that he is a salesman.

In this situation I aree with code, $$$$$ tend to cause issues either now or later. Gift cert forDinner at a decent restraunt tends to be good to.

Got a 300Y and a (still greasy) 300Y III 1500. No sub spindles here.

 

Currently running product on one and making some heat shrink end mill holders on the new one, 1st job on it.
