O/T Is google hacked?

Just now when I accessed the google the full page appeared in arabic. I made a screen shot of it.

Is this there publicity stunt or it's Hacked.

sounds like they detected your region of the world by your IP address and guessed at what you'd want to see. Mine is in English. Nice new toga chick with the weights tho..

The regional language here is Hindi & urdu not arabic.

Yes I visited Google just now, looked just like yours but in english. I understand that they gave you the wrong language, but if they just started this then maybe they have some bugs to work out.

 

Stocks of Google just started trading on Nasdaq today, so they are probably showboating/trying new things now..

Try setting it to Auto Detect. Then shut down all browser windows and relaunch IE and go to Google.

For me, typing in 'google.com' has always taken me to 'google.ca' (they get geographic location from the IP). Are you using a service that hides or spoofs your IP?

Tried it but still no luck.

Till yesterday typing google.com used to take me to google.in but now suddenly this thing is happening. I am going to call my local friends to know if this is happening to them.

Ok I changed to hacker language....they have Elmer Fudd, Pig Lation and Klingon!

It was some problem with my PC. I didn't change any setting and it was showing as the main page. None of my friends are having any such experience with google. The computer guy told me it is because of some sort of spy ware or someting. Now it's working fine.

I don't know, but I think google is trying to guess what is the native language depend on the IP, or something like that.

That is the point. My neighbour and in my office I am still getting standard google page.

How can they guess that I might know arabic. It's not even the regional language.

Google's language preference is set by a cookie google places on your computer. Arabic happens to be the first choice on the (alphibetized) list. To change your language preference, go here:

Google Language Preferences

 

and select English (or whatever) from the list.

Rick thanks for that, but it showed english as default language.

Though I reset it again and saved the prefrences but still arabic.

Maybe try dumping your cookies, or just the ones for Google and try again. Usually what you pick for a language will stay on the computer as default. Maybe run a Spyware removal program...maybe your browser is getting Hijacked.

 

Look for HiJack This, Spybot Search&Destroy, AdAware, CW Shredder....all good tools.

Thnks Brent, I am having system mechanic 4 from iolo soft. It has uptodate spyware list. And also I have deleted all history, cookies and everything. And have never used arabic as language in google.

If you use a different web browser, say Mozilla Firefox or Opera, does Google still appear with Arabic language? If it doesn't, then I hope your anti-spyware software finds the IE hijacker that has found its way on to your computer (manual removal shouldn't be too bad if you know what you're after).

Just installed netscap. And google is running fine.Problem solved. Thanks everyone.

 

It was definitely some spyware. I wonder how long these people will go.
