solids to surfaces

I am working with solid drawings and i was wondering if there was a way to convert these drawings to surface or wireframe drawings?

You can convert them to surfaces by

create--»surface--»next menu--»from solid

then select the solid model and click done.

the surfaces on each face is created.

You can convert your files to iges.

 

You can create a wireframe and surfaces with mastercam from a solid.

 

Create/curve/all edges/ from solid

I do not sugest the comvert to IGS.

DO as cadist states and you

Surface

From

Solid.

Choose modle not faces.

 

As for a clean wire,

Create

Curve

All edges

From Solid

Choose model.

I aslwas say put them on anther level .

You'll get cleaner curves when you create them from the solid than you will when creating them from the surfaces.

Creating surfaces and wireframe from the solid is the best way. +1000

Also to stabalize the solid (if youre done and don't mind eliminating the history tree) you can export it out as a parasolid, and then bring it back in as a dumb clean solid, I believe that was one of Iskanders dirty tricks. It works!

Or use the C-hook Nohist.dll that remove the history and you dont have to out put it then bring it back in.

 

Even thow I don't see a reasion in most cases to do this.

 

The C-hhok can be found in the C-hooks folder on the FTP.
