Tommy,

Great to hear you appreciate our efforts.

As for what I do.

First of all I program and troubleshoot repairs for CNC machines

at present:

7 Tsugami Horizontals

2 Kitamura Verticals

3 Nomura Swiss Lathes

2 Warner Swazey Lathes

2 Bridgeport CNC surface Grinders

1 Trumpf Laser

1 Mazak Laser

4 Traub Verticals

2 Drillmate Verticals

1 Normac CNC Grinding Wheel Profiler ( in Mt. Airy NC)

2 custom made grinders w/ xxxxor controls

6 rule etching machines w/ Fanuc6M and / or Bostomatic SPC2 controls

EIA/ISO help w/ 3 Mazak Vertical Machining Centers and 1 Mazak Multiplex Lathe

The other 3 programmers here have about the same load.

Secondly, I design + make fixturing for those machines (using KeyCreator , the successor to Cadkey)

Thirdly, I do methods engineering work

And last but not least , I do whatever else my boss tells me to do.

and yourself ??

We use a program called ThreadTech.

http://www.threadcheck.com/threadtech_software.htm

If you do a lot of threads it's well worth the cost.

Here's a sample of the results

..............OSBORN PRODUCTS INC..............

Pitch diameter tolerances and other data for EXTERNAL

THREADS, class 1A, 2A, 3A, series UNC, UNF, UNEF,

UN, UNJ, UNS.

Number of starts............................... 1

Threads per inch............................... 12.0000

Decimal lead is................................ 0.08333

1.875-12 UNJ-2A EXTERNAL THREAD

The major diameter is......................from 1.8732

to 1.8618

The pitch diameter is......................from 1.8191

to 1.8131

The minor diameter is......................from 1.7770

to 1.7660

Best wire size is.............................. 0.04811

Constant is.................................... 0.072169

Maximum radius at root is...................... 0.01500

Minimum radius at root is...................... 0.01250

Measurement over wires is..................from 1.891269

to 1.885269

Pitch diameter tolerance for 2A is............. 0.0060

Allowance for class 2A is...................... 0.0018

The helix angle is............................. 0.83542

Or if you prefer 0 Degrees 50 Minutes 7 Seconds

These are COMPUTER values......................

Run date is 03-25-05

Somewhere I have a floppy that I got from a tool guy it was free and legal.

It calculates measurement using any wires and also recommends best wires to use and all

thread info you might need.I am sure you can also calculate pipe threads. All data can be printed.

You can also input any special thread size, pitch that you want.I was already using Gage Master when I got this.Works great.

Let me know if you want this and how to get it to you.

God Bless All

Joe

Thank you all,

I had initially downloaded a "free" trial of Machinist Calculator, But when attempted to run, says "trial period has expired", not until today did consider installing on other computer..Seems to give similar results as what you show here, but no allowances for class of thread.

Charlie, did not recieve e-mail..would you please resend.
