Are there any free programs that read ProE files?

Greets to the group from Boeing central, Everett,WA (it's actually going to be sunny all weekend. A blistering 78degrees!!)

 

I would like to read a ProE model file and convert to an iges or other format that I can read into Mastercam.

 

Anybody have a hot tip on how to do this?

Did you mean other then the Pro E mastercam converter by CNC software? The Pro E converter has a few bugs in it but nothing compaired to the problems you will have with a igs converter.

 

If you see errors in Mastercam converter is most likly one of two things. One its the latest builds of Wildfire or its a file with multi configuration.

 

Mastercam does license its converter thru Granite who makes ProEngineer's graphic engine. I am told that is the reason for the price.

Proe solid to IGES to Mastercam is 99.9% for me.

 

Usually, if the IGES of your part comes from a solid, you will have very few problems.

I too convert ProE files to IGES and then import into Mastercam without any errors. However you have to do this on ProE. You can also import a ProE file into Solidworks,and svae it as a part file. Then you can use Mastercam Solidworks converter.
