can cnc m/cs do upcut?

my supervisor said cnc m/c can only do climb milling,is that true?i used upcut b'cos the diameter of the pin is quite small,with climb milling,the cutter will be pulling on the workpiece,probably distorting it if the height is too long and diameter too small

Climbing is the best direction to cut in most instances.

 

The cutter will push away from your part while machining.

 

So perhaps your supervisor was trying to express to you it is better to climb, if that is the case, then he is right....
