Running MC9 & MCX

Hi all,

I installed X on the pc in a seperate folder, kept MC9 latest greatest on the smae pc, since then MC9 is running real slow. MC X seems to run fine. Is anyone else seeing this? I have 1 gig of ram, I don't think thats the problem.

I have not had any speed problems or any real problems with 9.1 since installing "x".

 

The only difference I've seen is the new style level manager being used for both versions.

My 9.1 runs a little different since I installed the release version of X. Not sure if it is slower but does act a little different.

Same here. No loss of performance in v9.

 

However, I haven't tried running them simultaneously. I guess I'm afraid I'll cross the streams and cause every molecule in the universe to implode... or something...

I'm having the same problem I think. When you say MC9 is running slow, do you mean your functions are taking 5 seconds or longer to activate?

Yes, That is exactly the problem sometimes even more than 5 seconds, and for me if i don't look up as i am clicking away, well lets just say I cause my own problems. LOL

Both are loaded on mine without any problems. The levels manager was replaced in V9 to the -X- It took some getting used too but is OK.

Juat a reach here, but since installing X, have you maxed your graphics card acceleration? X wants full acceleration to run, but in many cases V9 does not, and will act sluggish if running with full acceleration.

All the pc settings are the same none were changed. X runs fine but we are not using X to machine to yet, it is 9 that is having trouble, you click on something and it takes 5 or so seconds for it to respond. All so this morning using 9 clicked file, get, took about 5 sec. to open, and then it didn't have any slidder arrows to access our files we could only click on the ones visible and no way to expand the box, closed down 9 and reopened and all was good except the delay. We never had these issues untill X was installed.

check your memory settings in v9 under screen-config allotacations

then check in X settings-configuration-toolpaths

 

It sounds like its starving for ram.

I realize this post is fairly old but has anyone resolved the problem for Don S? We seem to be having the same problem here. When selecting a line you get a 3-5 second hesitation before the object is hilighted
