Spline to Arcs no work?

Does not work.(Does not create arcs as in v9)

Anyone else try this?

Simplify seems to only work on closed splines that can be converted to a single arc. That was the old cnv to arcs function, I cant find a equilivant break splines to arc function.

I use break splines to arcs all the time.

According to the help section in there you can select to bread to lines or arcs. In the demo mode I'm running I can't get it to do it. See if you can.

It breaks it into many lines, but how do you break it into arcs?

Edit, Trim/Break, Break Many...

 

The third icon from the right on the ribbon bar (next to the OK check) toggles between 'Lines' and 'Arcs'. Use this buton to select 'Arcs', set a tolerance, pick a spline.

 

Please let us know if this solution works.

Edit/Trim-Break/Break many pieces and click on the circled button shown in the image below. This button will default to lines but when clicked switches to arcs. HTH "D'OH!" David beat me to it.

However, after the conversion I got speckles around the object.

I will try saving and reloading

Speckles are still there.

 

So what is Edit/Simplify for?

Edit simplify is for a single spline to a single arc, the speckles are arc center points, you could turn them off.

BTW. The default cordal tolerance of 0.0 will not do anything you need to set it to something to get it to work.

The speckles are arc center points.

If you don't want to see them go to:

Config

CAD Settings

Display Arc Center Points

and uncheck the box.

those "speckles ar e your arc centerpoints being displayed as Allan said. You can turn them off in Settings/Config/CAD Settings.

 

 

Edit/Simplify will rebuild splines with less control points within your desired tolorence

I went ahead and did simplify, and it converted 1 spline to an arc & 2 splines to lines, and then reported, "1 splines were converted"..When it actually converted 3 (1 to an arc, and 2 to lines). Any explanations?

Simplify will remove unneccesary node points (within the given tolerance) from a spline (used to be "reduce it" in the analyze-edit box) it will also create an (1 single) arc/line out of a (1 single) spline (old modify-cnvt to arc) if it falls within the given tolerance.
