When I import a Parasolid it comes in RED.

Very nice. We just had this same problem (except it wasn't a parasolid) and know I know how to fix it.

 

If I understand my co-worker correctly, if you have a group and result and then merge it into another file without clearing the colors, the group sticks and gets imported with it.

not quite correct....

 

File/Merge-Pattern ALWAYS makes a group each time you place the incoming geometry. Makes it a little easier to track what came in when - and lets you deal with just one of the imported 'instances' later on by selecting its group.

Where color gets confusing is addressed by Mitchell above (and by others in other threads). When we create a group, whether in File/Merge or just making groups, we pay attention to that Config switch when deciding what color to draw the entities. By default, they'll be in the group's color. Turning off that checkbox will show each entity in its own color
