When I import a Parasolid it comes in RED.

Ok. Whats the deal? I'm on day 2 with X and this is killing me. Someone please clue me in on why this is happening.

Try selecting the color you want before importing the file. I think that will take care of the problem.

go to groups and see if there is a group in there. if so delete it out of the group manager, and it should go back to its original color

But, I can't change the color of the imported solid and my color was not red when I merged it in.

Very nice. We just had this same problem (except it wasn't a parasolid) and know I know how to fix it.

 

If I understand my co-worker correctly, if you have a group and result and then merge it into another file without clearing the colors, the group sticks and gets imported with it.

Go to Settings/Config./Colors.. in "Group colors" box, de-select "Use group's color"

not quite correct....

 

File/Merge-Pattern ALWAYS makes a group each time you place the incoming geometry. Makes it a little easier to track what came in when - and lets you deal with just one of the imported 'instances' later on by selecting its group.

Where color gets confusing is addressed by Mitchell above (and by others in other threads). When we create a group, whether in File/Merge or just making groups, we pay attention to that Config switch when deciding what color to draw the entities. By default, they'll be in the group's color. Turning off that checkbox will show each entity in its own color
