Running MC 9 after X install

I was just going to ask about this when I found this thread... My IS department is going to be installing X next week and they wanted to uninstall V9 and then install X... Big problem... I've never even seen X... If it was just another update this wouldn't be a problem but it's not... I'm going to show him this post and hopefully they wont still want to uninstall V9...

 

Have you guys seen any issues with them both on the same computer?

I have both and no problems at all v9.1 sp2 and

x mr1.

Running no, If you have any problems at all it will be the HASP issues and there are plenty of thread around about how to cure those.

 

No functionality issues having both though.

 

I still have V9 installed, never use it though.

at the intial install there can be issues with the hasp drivers. Best to install X with the hasp off and then put it back on after the install. If you end up having a hasp issue, like X will run but not V9, there is a driversx.zip download at mastercam.com that should fix the problem.

there is no difference in 9 when you have both.

They both run fine on the same same machine

They do have some common files though.

 

If you have both on the machine and unistall either one, you'll break the other and have to do a repair

I strongly recommend leaving your V9 install

alone and go ahead and install install X

I would definitely leave version 9 on till you get comfortable with the new interface of Mcam X. This will allow for a smoother transition and more importantly no downtime of production.

Installing X with MR1/SP2 DOES mess up the way your level manager looks in 9...not a huge issue, but the new look is painful.
